how to paint stripes

i tried search but it never works fer me, i wanna put stripes on my camaro, its an 86 berlinetta, its grey, i was thinkin black stripes. i looked around a bit but cant find any decal kits fer the racing stipes fer less then 150$, and i dont have that kinda $ to blow on making my car look better, i would rather get a power adder, so anyways how do u paint the stripes?! what kind of paint? what do i use for stencels? what size for width. i wanna go with the ones that start at the bottom of the front and go all the way over the hood roof hatch and down the rear bumper. Thanks

from an ametures point of vview... a good bet is to make your pattern... take a pencil and draw it then maskingtape newspaper around the area to NOT be painted... then leave the stripes open and get out your air gun... I would nevcer use a paint brush on a car

Don't forget to buff it lightly with emory first, too. Otherwise the paint will peel off in no time...and use the same type of paint as the rest of the car: enamel and laquer don't mix!

Emory?!?!?!?!! Uhhh

If anything I'd go over the aera where you are going to apply the stripes to with 600 grit wet on a sanding block.

sounds like an air compressor;

you might consider buying some stripe decals instead of actually painting the stripes, as who knows how it would turn out...I know they sell the 25th anniversary stripe kit, and I've seen some generic kits at auto parts stores (might look cheesy though, I don't know)

from the looks of it, and dont take offense to this, you know nothing about painting a car, so i would either a. get a decal kit for $150 that you know is gonna look decent, b. get the car painted at a body shop, which is gonna be some serious money, or c. take the chance of messing up your car by doing it yourself. just my 2 cents.
