I am putting PST lowering springs on, just waiting for them to come off of my friends 82 when I puts the Sportlines on.

I was so frustrated with the Formula when I was swapping springs that I didn't wanna put the springs back in the trans am.

how hard is it to lower your car w/ lowering springs? I want to do it, is it something I can do myself or should I take it in and have it done...also do I need to buy new shocks or just springs? What all is involved w/ the procedure?

You could still walk under it, lol I'm short too

oh, not to hijack the thread here, but, the guy showed me the inside parts of the tranny today. I could see what he was talking about. Some worn parts and some things that had a lot of play that shouldn't.

But he said it may last a little while but not too long. That's just the price I pay for buying a used tranny. You don't have to buy it back if you don't want, I'll just chalk this up to lesson learned, and buy something new next time.

Thanks man.

If all of the bolts on the struts and shocks can come off, you can do it in 2 hours. Just need a jack and a jackstand.
There is a tech article on here on how to do it, and that is what I used when I did my first spring install 2 years ago.

When I did the Formula the other night, the bolts on the strut were so rusted that it took 4 hours to get the drivers side done.
The pass side was worse so I just swapped the strut and spindle with the Trans Am's. It was 4am when I got the Formula done and I was so pissed off that I didn't even bother putting the springs on the trans am. I have no idea how I am going to jack the T/A back up since it is really really low.

maybe someone already thought of this, but, how do you expect to get a jack back under that? Other than that, looks good. I especially like the motor.

They actually make special jacks for extremely lowered cars. My question is, what size rims are those and what size tires? With no springs I would expect the tire to tuck the fender a little. Maybe its just the angle of the pics. Does it tuck?

The tires are 275/40/17 and the wheels are 17x9.5.
it tucks a little, but not much. Fender is sitting on the tire.

Get some really strong drinking buddies to gather around the front and lift while you shove the jack under it.

Oh, my mistake. I thought it said "Is it too slow". In which case I would have replied "yes".

Just kidding! When do you think you'll have it running? And, are you going to paint it back the original maroon?

You're a funny guy.

It will be done sometime this year (hopefully).
It will be painted black, just like it is now, but will be painted right.
It will be triple black when I am done with her.
Black Body, Black interior, and black GS Wheels.

Zepher - was just messing with ya!

Cant wait to see it all finished! I was thinking about the black ZR-1's (GS), but I'm thinking about the silver ZR-1's or the Z06 wheels.

Here's a couple of photo-shop pics of my car with the different wheels:

My Z with different wheels

What ya think?

I dunno, I think the GS wheels on a black car is just too much black. You need something different to break up the color a bit.

There was a black WS6 on the cover of GM High Tech last year with black GS wheels. That thing looked killer.
If anyone has a pic of that car, post it.

just get airbags, then you can raise it to drive, dump it on the ground when parked (carefully)!

TP1383,

I noticed you have a targa top there. I would love to have one, but a bit of a challenge on a hardtop.

Is there much chassis flex due to lack of center support beam?

I like the 0 gap look. My car is all street so I'll settle for a 2" front drop and 1.75" rear.

Zepher I think triple black will look rad. It is one of the nicest color combos out there. Looks totally mean and down to business. I Love It. Cant wait to see the car done.
