gauging interest in custom billet parts
I've got a buddy who owns a CNC machine and is interested in making custom billet parts for us and selling them at a decent price. He needs a minumum number of people intersted in order for him to be able to make his money back so here I am gauging the interest. Some of the things we have in mind are:
Throttle body aifoils, Throttle body top plates (engraved with IROC, TransAm, L98 or whatever) polished covers for master cylinder, radiator caps, underdrive pulleys and also machined emblems for the exterior.

He's right, sill plates and radiator shroud, the custom emblems would be a good idea, the others, most companies have that stuff on the market covered already, a master cover seems to be a pita for our cars with the snap on lid rather than screw on like 4th gen, one of my 2 reasons for going with a 4th gen master cyl.
Some other possibilities: manual trans shifter plate, gauge panels that bolt in for aftermarket gauges, ebrake lever maybe....

i bet all the guys that have 5 or 6 spds would like to have an IROC or Z28(third gen style) and GTA shifter *****? how about maybe a billet steering wheel that resembles the stock? that might be too much but ya never know. Maybe some wheel spacers? could make them and they might be cheaper then whats out there now. I know i would like a cool Z28 tb plate and some other interior parts.

I like the radiator shroud or sill plates. I would also want a custom cover made that would cover the head lights to the frame.
Right now I have p.glass. But if all three came in the same design that'd be super sweet!

Most of the things listed are already made for our car, but I would agree with everyone elese sill plates and radiator support and I want to add something to cover that ugly wiper motor. If he makes those parts, I'll buy.

I put a list together of all the ideas and we went down to the shop last week with it. He's working on "prototypes" I guess you could call them, and I will let you know what's up with them when he's finished

Powermite's aluminum interior would be totally sweet. I still can't find the power window switches he used.

heres somthing actually useful he could sell if he could make them cheap enough:
TBI on carb manifold adaptors
serpentine belt style, smog delete AC bracket that does not require mounting where onto the headers. this would not only improve the look of the car, but it removes the old mount for the pump and allows headers without making a spacer.
one with the same idea for the PS pump would be nice for when you add headers too... no spacer needed
that said...
cool billet spacers slightly shorter then most spacers need to be, then the end installer can use washers as shims to make it work... shims are needed because header flanges vari in thickness.....

Rings around the gage openings in firebirds, like someone has on this site. As well as a radio pod face with the PONTIAC ingraved in it. And the Center console cover plate. I'm sure you have seen what I am talking about.

i could make the door sills out of sheet metal. is the radiator thing your talking about just a cover for where the radiator shroud mounts on the metal. i could make that too. stainless, aluminum, diamond plate, polished, u name it

Another example of those door sills......
Maybe decals could be put on the door sills, instead of engraving, would probally be alot cheaper....

The sill plates would be excellent, but they need to be like the ones that come out of the car, by this I mean, not just a flat piece of metal but one that has the roll over in it to catch the carpet on the inside. If so I would be interested. The shroud would look good in billet also........

The black plastic piece at the top of the radiator is what I am talking about, not the fan shroud... If you could make one of these in billet as an accent piece it would look good....

He's still working on the list that I gave him. I told him about TB plates, butterfly's, airfoils, the radio pod/console covers, sill plates, radiator shrouds, emblems, pedals, shift ***** ( I had a few ideas on them ), battery box/cover, pre-made switch panels, accessory brackets, a/c and smog delete pulley's and accessory bracket's without provisions for a/c and smog. Also a/c delete boxes, underdrive pulley's, master cylinder reservoir cover, billet cover's for washer and overflow tanks. As soon as he get's back to us on exactly what he can make for a resonable price, I will let you know.
This reminds me.....He makes a blower pulley for our Vipers that is rifle-drilled. He cut's slots across the face of the pulley and puts an angled hole through it too. This creates a vacuum that sucks the belt to the pulley. We dyno'd a Viper with the pulley that came with the blower and then made a second pull with the drilled pulley ( both the same exact diameter) and the second pull he made 90 more horsepower. The belt was slipping that much!! Keep in mind, this is a 900 HP viper. I don't think many of us will have problems with belt slippage, but I thought I'd tell you about it.

How about a cover plate for the speaker vents on the dash-pad? I'd buy those! Mine are starting to crack, but the rest of the dash pad is nice. I'm sure ALOT of people have this problem and they would be a popular seller! I could just cut-out the cracked speaker opening and place the billet cover over the speakers on top of the dash pad and save $$$$ from having to buy a new dash pad.

He said he's not big on the idea of radiator supports or sill plates b/c they'd be better off done in sheet metal and would be very expensive to do out of billet which is what he does. So far, TB plates, airfoils, and billet emblems are the best bet. Also sent him some pics of powermite's interior as well b/c I would love him to make that stuff!

I would be VERY interested in custom center caps for my Ronal R-15 firehawk wheels. Since I have a Camaro, I would like to have the chevy logo, Z28, or Camaro written on them. Maybe even copy the 91-92 Z28 wheel center cap design. I don't think it would be that hard to do once the diamater and design were determined. what if he could make a serpentine belt bracket that would hold the AC compressor down low where the smog pump was?
then all the cars with the smog pump off could retain the AC while still having the underhood look clean and neat..

i think the door handles would be really cool, i found a billet round shift **** in jegs so he wouldnt ned to make that.
