Got hit by a tire on the highway.....
Earlier today, I was on the highway being boxed in by a ******* in an old chevy. His windows were down and his ****** was blowing in the breeze. All of a sudden, his rear left tire exploded and the whole thing came off the rim and slammed up into the front of my white GTA. It didn't leave any dents, but there are some good scratches. The guy didn't have insurance and I didn't feel like pressing the issue since I'm already suing the scumbags who broke into my car last week. I cleaned it up with some simple green and most of it came out. What can I do about the deep scratches in the paint? Thanks for any info! Matt

if theyre deep enough that they scratched the paint, the only way to fix them without lookin ghetto is getting it repainted, i know, it sucks. you could always try this thing i saw in the store i work at, its by turtle wax, it comes with a stick of whatever color your car is and a bottle (i dont know what it is exactly, i only looked at it for a few seconds) but it said it takes out minor scratches...i dont know if its any good but its probably worth a try..
We sell that product at the car parts store I work at. It is made by Turtle Wax, but I'm not exactly sure of the name.... Color Something I believe and it sells for like $9 a bottle. Anyways, it comes with some sort of special watch for which ever shade you pick (red, blue, green, black, white, grey.... I think, each is supposed to blend with any shade of the particular color) and a special "Chip Stick" that looks like lipstick you use for scratches. I have not used the product myself and have not heard from my co-workers, but I did sell a bottle to a buddy of mine who used it on a scratch on his car and he said that it worked great... for what it's worth. Hope this helps.

get a little bottle of colour match paint - white should be easy compared to some other colours that might fade and not match. apply with the cardboard end of a match - just dab it into the scratch until the level is above the surrounding paint. sand smooth with 1500 grit wet, polish the area, and it should look good as new!

Simple green is just a water soluble detergent.
I dont see how it can be any worse then if you get a little windshield washing spray on your paint.

Okay, I was worried there for a second. I use simple green on my car all the time. When I wash the car, I can scrub bugs for days and they won't come off. But if I spray them with simple green and let them soak for a minute, they come off with the hose! Works wonders on brake dust too. Matt

I use simple green on the bugs and wheels too. The scratch removed paint, to make it look right you need to replace that paint(like he said above). You can apply all the 'color' wax you want, but it won't replace the missing paint.

i tried that color cure stuff, i was not at all happy with the results..... i have some paint that is.... i dunno what to call it, i guess... peeling(sort of) and tried some of that and it didn't work, wasn't shocked but then i tried it on a few scratches i have and it still failed.... so i'm not impressed i was more impressed with a product in a small yellow bottle called Scratch Out it worked fairly well. and it was white on my black car and worked decent. so if i were u i would try that, it's cheap too like 5 bucks at most

That really sucks man. My buddy was driving in Phoenix in his 95 Camaro and two cars hit each other. The wheel came off the car and went about 15ft in the air, it then bounced and landed on his car.
Wheels kind of suck like that.

in conjunction with the paint. i recently had a sprint truck hit my car goin 50 mph down the highway, and it bounced me off into a construction barrel (BIG ORANGE BLASTED THINGS) and scuffed my new paint on the passenger fender and the front nose. Not only is the paint scuffed but the drivers side fender is totaled. What kind of 3m Polish or stuff could i use with a buffer to get the scuffs out. Thanks Kaker

yeah dude, i used that turtle wax color stuff when someone keyed my car, and even though the stuff you are supposed to use on the deep scratches looks like lipstick, it still works good! well worth the $9 to buy, but be warned. Its only good as a temporary solution.
