Anyone know where i can get some 15" iroc rims and will they fit?
Anyone know where i can get some 15" iroc rims and will they fit?
Someone please let me know if i am right:
the 15" versions of the 88-90 iroc rims are 1" narrower (7" wide versus 8" wide) and i was told that they wont fit rearends with the PBR rear calipers
but
i'm assuming that they will fit if you do a little grinding on the calipers correct?
Also, does anyone know where i can get some or if anyone would want to trade for a set of 16" IROC rims straight up or possibly work something out?

Theres been an 88-90 15" set on ebay for a month or so looked like they were in good shape. Not sure if they sold the last time they were up for auction. The minimum bid was around 400.00, They are 15x7.
I think the place that had them for sale was called Trans am creations. They are pretty well known in Florida. They sale used and new fbody parts.
I just checked they are still for sale the auction ends in about 5 minutes though.

first off... yeah I am pretty sure the 15" irocs would hit the calipers. I would advise that you wouldn't grind the caliper, you would more than likely need to do more than just a "little" and it would probably affect the durability of the caliper!
but why would you want to go from 16" Irocs to 15"?

Grinding the caliper is common practice and i'm going to have to more than likely grind them for my Bogart rims anyhow
the reason why i want the 15" iroc rims is so i can put a larger size drag radial tire on them and still keep my car stock appearing
i can only put a 245 nitto or 255 BFG drag radial on my 16" wheel which honestly would just be a waste of money with my money. I need 15" rims so i can throw on a 275/50/15 on them
thanks

Yes they did. This was taken from another thread...
In 89 they were a mini 16x8 Iroc wheel. Sized down to 15x7, but looked the same as the 16x8's.

True, 15" rim dont have clearance for the PBR calipers but you can grind down the fins to make them fit. Not a big issue
Well I dont know anything about a 15" IROC wheel, but I do know that a 15" RS wheel (15x7) will fit over the rear PBR disc setup found on IROC's, Z28's, 1LE's, and B4C's (its all the same stuff). They will also fit over 1LE front brakes. I was somewhat supprised to hear this, but it came from AndyZ28 and I trust what he says (he knows his stuff). he also said he has pictures of the 15's on a 1LE spec car on his 1LE CD. Check the end of the post here.

Yep, 88 had 15's as well. They looked different though. They were the 'normal' 15x7 5 spoke aluminum wheels, painted all silver or all gold with a different center-cap. I have a set on my 91 Jimmy.
I have also heard they will clear the better brakes. I can't imagine 275's on a 7 inch wide wheel is going to hook really good--needs to be wider IMO.

This is straight from the camaro history from this site:
"The 16 inch wheels that had been standard equipment on the IROC were restyled and now became an extra cost option for the IROC. The standard IROC wheel was the old 15x7 inch aluminum 5 spoke Z28 wheel and this wheel was also now standard on the Sport Coupe."
