Shaved Handle Horror!
This might belong in body/interior. Mods do what you must.
At any rate....
I am considering shaving my door handles, but my dad is a little on he pessimistic side because he did it when he was my age (so in about 1961). And he said shaving is a real pain and isnt reliable.
Well I know a lot has changed in 40+ years, but still, what can go wrong with shaved doors, and what are some drawbacks.
And what is the average costs for a kit, and the bodywork?
PS. I wanna drag race, will I be allowed to with shaved handles, and do they add alot of weight?

you wont be going fast enough to worry about the coefficient of drag that your door handles produce.
Horrors? Hope your battery dont go completely dead with the windows up and you on the outside.

just make sure you keep your door key on you and crawl into the hatch if you get stuck outside. i was going to do this mod as well, but i decided against it. what if your parked on abit of an angle and you got a bunch of shi.t in your hands and you hit the button to open your door so you can throw the stuff in the back seat and the door pops open, gravity sucks your door into the car parked beside ya.

Worst Case Scenarios:
(I have them myself)
1) Remote Transmitter goes dead- Press your emergency button underneith
2) Car battery goes dead -(This has happened to me already...TWICE!) Simply use your car keys to open the trunk and crawl through the hatch.
3) Solenoid burns out- Go through the other door with the working solenoid
4) Both solenoid burn out- Same as #2

I thought about doing this to my IROC until I had visions of sticking my knee through a subwoofer as I crawled in through the trunk. Then when I found out the track might not let me in, it sealed the deal.

You can shave your door handles and got ot the track and drag race BUT you MUST have a set up where some one can open your door from the out side, basiclly like how the NHRA Pro Stock cars have where they have a flip switch on the window that someone can push in to nlock the door and open it. Then have a flip switch to push and locks the door shut. Also there doors are carbon fiber and just have a bar goin thru the door. basiclly if u wanna drag race dont shave them, if u want cool looks shave them. which one is more important?

I cant remember who did it on here but someone put Intrepid(i think) door handles on their car. It looked sweet *** sweet cause it was flush with the door and it is drag legal.
Thats what I hope to do someday.
