How long are your exhast tips? Pics pleasE
My car is in the exhaust shop, it will be done tomorrow. I showed the guy what tips i wants....3" chrome angle cut pieces, but they were like 12 or so inches long, i thought the chrome pieces go almost all the way back to the muffler, will these look dumb? I told him to get the longest ones he can. Thanks

Try a search, I know this has been brought up a bunch of times before on this board and the exhaust board. There's quite a few threads of tip pictures. Pics of mine are on my website, link is in the sig.

here are mine. They are about 14 inches long. I think they look better because there not just chrome the last 4". It does take some extra care every month you need to get under and keep them polished.

The tips on my 91 RS are about 14" long as well. My car is lowered so all you can see are the chrome tips and not where they're welded on to the original pipe. Mine are slant cut as well, so the top part of the tip is perfectly even with the rear bumper. I didn't want it sticking out all kinds.

I've always been under the impression that exhaust should be head and not seen. The way 86Fyr has his looks to be about perfect. You want just enough tip showing to people know you got duals and to keep them guessing. Alsoif he can angle the muffler outlets a little toward the underside of the and then angle your tips down a little, you won;t see any of the welds, just the big chrome tips.

My tips only stick out maybe two inches. The angle of that phot makes them look like there hanging out farther. I like the look of them sticking out slightly and it keeps exhaust residue from climbing up my back bumper. To each his own though and that is why they make different styles of tips. Some like slash cut others like the round ones that point down. I have slash cuts on my motorcycle and the ones on my TA look just like them.

its not that a round slash cut tip is ugly, its the fact that how low the rear of thirdgens are and plus there isnt anything round on the back end. third gens have lots of vertical and horizontal lines in the rear, the tail lights for instance, spoiler, bumper, ground effects. thats why i think teh 93-97 style tips go along better with a iroc, since their rectangular they dont hang down low and the have the same styling as the rear of the car.

Exactly I feel the same way..... I have a set like the ones on ******* car. He had his chrome dipped, IM into polishing things now so thats what IM doing. I havent installed them yet.
To look right though they need to be tight to the bumper and not stick out much if at all.

I've thought about doing that to my car but I don't know anything about them & have a few questions. Will it be noticed that tips (right word?) were added? Does it change the way the sound of the car sounds? How much does something like that cost? My car is completly stock, would this be something that would not be wise to do if I want to keep my car stock-basically is it permanant or be easy to take off and not noticable that they were on? Please forgive the silly qu. I'm used to driving a honda and I didn't have that much interest in cars till I got the Z28. Thank you for your patience.
