Yes Adam you guess it I went with platinum. I was looking at gun metal but looking at the paint chips the platinum has way more metallic in it. And I know of only one other guy with the same colour and he's across the county

Hi Matt actually my insurance paid for some of that so it would of cost me $2200 Canadian and that is around $1500 US. They had the car for about a week. Did an awsome job like i said it used to be black. Now the door jams aren't done neither under the hood but being black it looks ok, to paint that would of been double the price.

Yet another car that looks like I want mine to. I still haven't decided on a RAI vs. a RAII hood because I like both. I may have to rethink this color choice though, it's becoming to popular, heheheh.
I just got the estimate done on my car at a local Maaco shop. Single stage paint was $1900, two stage clear coat was $2200. That included stripping the old chipping paint on the hood, roof, hatch, front and rear bumpers, and the tops of the fenders and quarters. It also includes tha jambs for the doors and hatch, but not under hood (since I'll be doing that as I do engine upgrades). Can anyone say "Subtract about $800 worth of prep labor and hello DA sander!"??? I sure can!

Where did you get that paint job done for that cheap? I live in Abbotsford and I want a paint job for my '86 quite badly. Did they do the body work for you?
Looks good from here!

And people say GM Pewter Metallic doesn't change shades like Platinum does

Just an update for you guys with the metallic paints...especially 86WS6_T/A....
The GTA is currently awaiting a coat of "Flame Red Metallic Pearl-coat" by PPG paint. These metallic shades are the best on thirdgens.

All of the cars that have been posted here are very good looking, but I think that FlyinLow89 has got you all beat.
Two reasons:
1. Wheels: complete the lok very well and compliment the lines of the car.
2: His paint looks "deeper" than the other platinum painted cars on this post...don't know if that is just difference in care or what, but everyone should take cues from FlyinLow89:hail:

More then that, then it should be on a covered wagon. a good set of 18 inch iroc's on flyin's car would be sweet. Im not the only one who does not like his rims... or the wing.

first i'd like to say hello to everyone. I've been a member of the boards for a while but just recently got an 84 TA and a parts car to swap a 350TPI out of (but that's for another board). I love the pewter and platinum color and am considering having a paint job done while the engine compartment is basically empty. 86WS6_T/A, my car will look basically like yours except for the nose. I was wondering how much your paint job cost and how much it was for the rims alone. I don't know if i'd have my rims painted black or body color yet but i'm leaning a little towards black. Also, did you have the engine compartment and door jams painted? here's a pic of my TA as it is now. The pic is from the person i bought it from (he's also a member here). It's nice and dry in a garage now and nearly rust free, especially for a 19 year old car.
