Not sure of what kinda paint to get? help
My Camaro needs painted REALLY bad. I want to paint it black but I can't afford really expensive paint. What my question is, is what brand/kind of Gloss Black paint can I get that won't cost me an arm and a leg to get that won't look like garbage and loose its shine in a few months.

Dupont pitch black base/ Montana clear (whatever clear you think looks the best its your opinion)
Fixing to paint mine again, its been painted 5 years and still looks good but I just want to paint it again since I got all new weatherstripping and buying a new cowl hood. I already have it jambed out just waiting on the money to finish.

just my 2 cents worth......
My recomendation for you from painters point of view, is discuss this with whomever is going to do your paint work. I personally like to decide what I use on the vehicles I paint. This allows me to use the brands that I know best, so I can get the most out of them. Personally I use Sikkens, but its not cheap. If your going to have a body shop refinish your car then talk to the shop. Most body shops will use their own supplies & materials, thats part of the cost of refinishing your car. Good Luck & let us know how it turns out.
I just had the paint guy at my work paint my crown vic black. We used a one stage acrylic/enamel. It was was through a co called "Nason" paint. It laid on real nice and dried to a very nice high gloss. I still am going to wetsand it, but it really looks great. It took almost one gallon to do the entire car with two thick coats and the door jams. The paint with the hardner cost me $100. I you wanted you could get a gallon of clear and it would look better yet. I didn't clear it, but I believe It was around $125 for a gallon of clear.
The paint guy recomends "Nason" paints to me, says he really likes how it lays down.

Well my friend that went to school for auto body is going to help me paint it.. Like I said I'm not looking for something perfect the car is still a work in progress just something to get rid of that multicolor of black, faded black, dull black, and somewhat glossy black.. I think you get the Idea. I am looking for cheap but not garbage paint. I just put a ton of money into it. so I'm not that worried if I have the best paint job out there... I know dupont ppg and Sherwin Williams etc. are some of the best paints out there but like I said I want a medium to low but not lowest grade paint.

Oh by the way I work in a bodyshop fulltime, also do work on the side at another bodyshop my friend owns. Definitely need to find somebody to talk to. I can sit here and tell you what I like but you or the painter painting your car may not like the same thing, every painter likes to use something a little different.
