5" iroc spoiler

I was just wondering what the latest info on the 5" spoiler is? I am going to start the body work on my car pretty soon and after the 4" cowl hood I think the 5" spoiler would set it off nicely...I remember hearing that there was some fitment issues with them...also if someone has a link to the site that sells them.
Thanks.

spoiler

it probley got threw off the board as a public service. a friend of mine bought one and it fit teribble. the bolts that are supposed to hold it on the car pulled through the thin fiberglass and the fit was a mess. it looked like it would be better fitted to some model of ***** that to a third gen. you could see daylight throught all the gaps in it. i mean it did not fit anywehere maybe a inch here and 2 inch there. buyers beware!!!!!!!

hey, i got back the 5 inch spoiler and it is alot more solid then before. and the studs look more anckured into the fiberglass, and the inside like where it used to be all open is now all closed up on all the pieces. looks and feels alot solid. i cant wait to align my hatch and fit this again. really hope it fits great and looks great if not ill spend all day gettin it to fit.

Yes, I do have input here. First off, I want to comment about the guy that delivered for everyone when the thread was started and everyone was freakin BEGGING for that spoiler. Bruce, at Hawks thirdgen parts is absoloutely THE most stand up guy concerned with his customer's satisfaction more so then any other buisiness I have dealt with. No, he aint paying me to say this and I stand nothing to gain here by sayin it either, but I know when respect is due.

I ordered the 5" spoiler about 2 months ago for my 88 Iroc. IMMEDIATELY Bruce warned me that it simply wouldnt work on mine because of some of the alignment details and bolt holes being different on my car then the year models the spoiler was designed for. But no, I pushed on and said I didnt care because I could make it fit and I would grind new holes in the body anyway. He said ok, but gave me no guarantee. So I get the spoiler and yeah, there were a few fitment issues, and through pictures and phone conversation, we came to the conclusion that it was most likely not the spoiler, but something I had overlooked. What does he do?? The guy gets me out a NEW one that is now redesigned with higher quality and fits up great.
So now this guy has replaced a spoiler for me because of an oversight on MY part... Where else can you find service like that?

And note, this is a piece that was designed from a fiberglass mold and I doubt there is any way to make it fit perfect to EVERY thirdgen out there... So some very minor block sanding and adjusting will be needed, but there are not any "huge gaps" or poor quality of the studs, or any bigtime issues to keep you from buying the spoiler. Indeed, the newest generation of spoilers that Bruce will be producing from now on are of great quality and anybody that sees the parts on my car will know what I mean!

Bottom line... Order it.. Install it.. Spend an hour or two tweaking it a bit to make it just right. Then enjoy a spoiler that almost NOBODY has on their Thirdgen. Trust me, I would rather that everybody NOT put these on their cars just so mine looks unique, but for the sake of the community here I wanted to add my 2 cents!

That spoiler is aaaaallright now!!

And for Hawks Thirdgen parts... All I can say is THANKS!

Thanks a lot, that makes me feel better...The reason I want this is because unless you know exactly what your looking at most people wont even realize its not the factory spoiler.

That's one way to look at it, but what about the fact that they sell more new parts? You have to start your business some where, hawks just got started in dealing with used parts and is working his way up.

wtf is your problem. what do you have against hawks? when we were trying to get a notchback reproduced, you completely bad mouthed everything about it. yes, hawk's does sell a lot of used parts, but there's no way in hell i would put him in the same class as a junk yard. i have never seen a junkyard that stands by their products, new or used, like bruce does. like MikeC stated, bruce is a model of customer service. both MikeC and Timz bought the spoiler, and it originally did not fit well, so bruce offered to take it back, test fit it on a few cars, and really work on getting a better fit. Nothing fiberglass will ever fit perfectly, especially something that goes on our crooked hatches.

Right on Diabolical.

Bruce is a stand up guy. I could wait for a year on the notchback to be reproduced. Cause I know Bruce will make them the best he can before he starts selling them to the plubic.

BTW, doesnt T/A girl work for a rival fiberglass company? Or was that just a Rumor?

Ban t/a girl! If it is even a female. Nothing but problems in this thread. Lets close this thread b/c the man found his answers and that is all there is to it. There are other threads about this spoiler. If anyone has anything to add, do it to those. Just my .02, a little more valuable than t/a girl's, but hey, thats just my opinion! lol later

I know Mike86IROC, and he's was always telling me good stuff about Hawks and the good service when he was trying to get his spoiler figured out. Although I have not personally ordered anything from Hawk's Im gonna have to second Mike's opinion of Hawks.

This was a post MetalliCamaroRS made in the notchback gp thread.

Edit- Do I remember something about you working for ramairhood.com? If so, do not try and bring down this GP just cause the members don't like the notch offered there.

I highly doubt you will see any performance gains except for maybe doing 180mph, even then it would probably be neglible...I just think the spoiler looks badass while maintaining the original lines of the car.

I thought I remembered you from somewhere...

Do you have anything better to do besides troll?

Personally, I think the 5" spoiler is a GREAT idea! If I hadn't already gone to the high-rise spoiler, I'd seriously go this route. Why anyone would want to stifle innovation for these cars is beyond me.

yeah, it seems as if t/a girl works for ramairhood.com. if that's the case, then she is obviously bashing hawks in efforts to get people to search for other places to purchase fiberglass products. i believe deadbird bought the 4th gen spoiler from ramairhood.com, and he said the quality is poop

5 inch spoiler

Well, I finally got mine this past Wed. and today after work I took the old spoiler off and started the fitting of the new one. I must say it looks good and I almost have it perfect. It didn't take much sanding to get it right. I had drill out a couple of the holes in the body to get it right but not much at all. All that is left is to fine fit and sand the bottom edge of the center section and it will be ready for paint, which won't happen till spring, but it does look good on the car..
I sent Bruce an e-mail thanking him for the fine product and to let him know how it fit right out of the box. It wa worth the wait in my opinion.
Just take your time in the fitting and sanding to get it right and watch the hatch alignment. All told, I have about 3 hrs. total in putting it on, including the taking parts off to get started.

Yea, mine is the new mold. Bruce called me about a month ago to tell me that they were working on a better mold which would be stronger and have the studs better anchored. As I said before it was worth the wait. Now that doesn't mean it will bolt on without some fine fitting but it's real close. I have about 1/2 hrs work to do to it and will be ready for paint in the spring. As for the side pieces, they fit pretty good against the body. I just had to take a small barrel sander to radius the curve to get a tighter fit all the way around. It sure looks good on the car.

I have never met Hawks, I've bought enough parts from him to just say "send it" and bill my card. He has never screwed me over on anything. There were some fitment issues on the first spoiler (I guess) It seems to me that they fit as good as any aftermarket piece, probably better than most. I have one on my car, and in my opinion any half way decent hotrodder should be able to get the freakin' thing to fit w/o much problem. I really don't know what all the whining is about, but I wish everyone would shut up and get over it. It seems to me that Hawks is doing all he can to straighten this out.
