Nice trick with TurtleWax Formula 2001

A friend of mine told me to try this nice trick to get the engine bay looking pretty good in a hurry. Spray everything with TurtleWax Formula 2001! Just let it sit for a few hours. I wish I had a digital camera... it looks great!

i did this with "GUNK" when i first got my car. Sprayed everthing, let is sit for a bit, then hosed it all off. Worked great.

I used something in a purple bottle (Lightning something?)
it's a de-greaser it says

I hooked up the bottle to our pressure washer, sprayed down the engine bay

started the car, and let it heat up, and sprayed it some more

then i sprayed off everything with normal water.. worked wonderfully. (Not 100% better.. but noticably cleaner)

didn't have to worry about the airfilter since i have a TPI engine :lala:

no need to wash it off. It's not like you'll be hurting anything. Just don't spray into the air intake and you're fine. Seriously, spray it on everything and let it sit, and you're done. It works a little better if you powerwash first and let the water dry.

Everytime I clean my engine something major breaks within a day or two. Last time it was the timing chain on my 454. Turned my push rods into spaghetti. I'll just leave mine a little "dusty" until I pull it for the rebuild.

LOL... if water or formula 2001 broke your timing chain, i'd say it was about ready to go anyway..

Yeah, just a crappy GM design team fubar.

A junk metal gear with neoprene teeth. I should have known to replace the damn thing as soon as I bought the truck. I immediately changed my T/A to a double roller.
