Restoring GTA Wheels

I have a set of GTA wheels and when they were repainted gold the guy who did it took all of the polish and paint off of it and repainted the crosslaces gold and the perimeter of the wheel silver, which was does not look so good.

So my question is how expessive are these wheels to get fully restored or do u think I should redo them myself. But you have to realize I have never polished aluminium before or painted wheels before (I am only 16)

Also do you know if the wheels where powercoated gold or just painted.

Here is the best pic i can find

That gold looks WAY too bright. I thought stock was a darker color. One of my rims is refinished and it looks great, however the gold is nowhere near that bright (and I'm glad).

GTA, did u have your wheels totaly striped down and repolished and painted?

Fruityone, the gold is the wrong color but it is not as bright as it seems in the pic I think he had a light on it when he took the pic.

Here is what it looks like on the car

Wheels...

To answer your question ..no they were not totally stripped down
The "gold" centers were left factory But the silver outer part was
"machined" to remove the clear and a tiny bit of metal to restore the smooth machined look to the wheel then the entire wheel
was sprayed with clear and they look exactly factory fresh..they should after all I too was scared that they would not be able to
copy the factory color.....good luck with yours..nice car by the way
later GTA.....

So GTA wheels are not polished they are just machined and clear coated? If so then this explaines alot thanks for the help.

Also thanks for the compliment right now the only keeping the car from looking perfect (on the exterior) is the wheels.

One of the rims on my GTA was refinished by TransWheel corp. The color match is spot on, if I didn't know it wasn't the original wheel I'd never guess.

Hehe, here's a challenger, click on the sig picture and try to figure out WHICH wheel is the refinshed one.
