Rims....need help...Cragar
I'm getting some Cragar SS', and I wanted to know, what's the biggest size I can go w/ for 17's? I was thinking 17x9's...that would just about make it wide, but not stick out of the wells. I'm going to run the same ones all around. Also, these would fit w/o spacers, right? The 17x8.5's have 5x4.5 bolt pattern (which I believe is correct), w/ 5.5" backspace. The 17x9's are also 5x4.5 but with a 6" backspace. Would they both work? I don't get the difference. What would be better? Basically, I want the widest tire I can fit w/ those rims w/o spacers and w/o sticking out of the fender wells. Also, they have Forged Alloy rims, and "Classic" Rims. Should I go w/ the Forged Alloys?
Thanks!!

ZR1's are 17x11 in back :-) so ya can go wider than 9 :-P sorry i have no real experience but i DO know that the ZR1's are 11 in back, so you can go wider.
Are you sure? I know it can probably "fit" but I've heard 17x11, you'd have to bend the fender lip back. And, no way am I going to be doing that to mine. I want it to normally fit, w/ no mods or anything. I just want the widest possible setup. Also, I don't know about the backspacing...which size Cragar SS's would I use? I'm probably going to hook 'em up w/ Firestone Firehawk Rubber too...as I heard it's a very good street tire...also is very sticky.
Please help me out if you can guys!!

from what i've heard/seen, ZR1's will fit fine and you wont need to do any fender flares or anything.....
Just get the right backspacing and stuff and you should be set :-)
I do not know the exact backspacing though...

17X9 will fit fine with the right back spacing. The 17X11 do require minor mods, again, dependant on backspacing (ZR1's included).
The correct bolt pattern is NOT 5X4.5", it is 5X4.75". 5X4.5" is the Ford 5 bolt pattern for Mustang/Crown Vic/Etc.

just dont let any of them (tire places) talk ya outta what you want..i got ****ed on mine cuz the guy said no no no you dont want them, they will do this & that--he gave me the whole speal!!
Yeah, I know all those sales people. They'll do anything to sell their crap...lol...Thanks for the tip though. I think I'm gonna go w/ 17x9 w/ the 6" backspace. Someone let me know if those are gonna fit in nicely, w/o sticking out...Can't go w/ 9.5's or 10's...9.5's don't have the right bolt pattern...and they don't even make the SS' in 17x10...shoots right to 18x8.5.
Thanks!
Thanks!
