anyone have any ideas, pictures, or drawings they could come up with i would appreciate the help with or without color. whom evers design or idea comes closest to what's used on the finished project will be credited in future promotional work.

Something like this, but in a "ghost" style would be VERY nice.

Use your imagination with different colors, etc. It would look sweet IMO.

I gotta go to work now, but since I do nothing there anyways, I'll be sure to think up plenty of paint schemes, I'll post them when I get back tonight

What kind of shows will you be going to? Are all the cars wild? Different shows have different priorities. It wouldnt be cool to show up with a wild paintjob when everone is else going for a stock look and vice versa.

my own car covers the stock look so i'm looking for wild but nothing extremely overboard which is why i'm cutting the colors down.

Ok, if you are going to go wild, then I say do a tribal slash paintjob. Like the two tone posts before, one color on the bottom, one on the top, with the transition being a multiple tribal slash. Off the top of my head, I'd say the red and silver (nice contrast) should be the two tones, with black and gold making the tribal transition. Here's some examples (ignore that they are trucks) here and here.

If you are going to stick with the stock look, then I say do some ghost designs that will look like a single color from far away, but as people get closer they can make out different designs.

very nice ideas crazy..........looking to do a more radical view unlike the more comon centered view. maybe something wrapping from the front over the fender and down the side or possibly from the front wheel well and up towards the spoiler???

still playing...all great ideas though, thanks everyone!!

How about same idea, but instead splitting the 2 tone on the side of the car, split it up the middle? So like maybe the drivers side red, the pass side silver, with the tribal slash up the middle like a racing stripe? Heck you could even do it at an angle across the car. Hmmm!! I just recommended the tribal style because I haven't seen it done on a 3rd gen yet. I think it would look tight!!

Or if you have any themes you like you can incorporate that in the tribal slashes. Flames are kind of played out, but skulls and dollar signs could be good examples. I guess whatever theme you go for at the show (for your booth) go with that? Just throw'n out ideas.

Ahhh Crap!!! I forgot to think about this at work.

Well then from the top of my head, I'd say to use the red or black as the main color then have the other (red if black was the main color and vise versa) for the secondary color then have the gold and silver as accents colors. Crazy's tribal idea is a good one. I can't remember his name but this car belongs to a guy on here, I'm pretty sure he designed and painted the tribal markings himself. Maybe you could have the silver and gold lining the tribal markings, or have gold and silver smaller markings mixed in with the larger markings. I'd photoshop it but I'm currently changing over comuters and I deleted photoshop off of this one.

silver and gold is the base for the candies so in essence the idea was to have the red tearing off the base with different "ghost" ideas throughout the open areas.

most common cars like this will have a silver front end with the top coat tears beginning up on the hood and carying back.....

all just ideas and things to work out. if anyone has any drawings or pictures please pass them along. thanks again.

Why be common? Even though it is common in an "original" crowd, standing out from even them (while still being tasteful) would be even better right?

But if you were to keep the tearing away theme, you could also encorperate the triabal thing and have the tearing away "morph" into tribal markings as it travels down the car. Just another idea really.
I'm kinda blank right now for my own original ideas so i'm just modifying others ideas.

i agree....all the reason why i put that up. just another idea to think about. most of my inspirations have been taken from the mini truck scene using lowrider colors, it's just difficult to come up with something that hasn't been done before and still look good but not overdone.

Do an airbrush theme with Jesus on the hood and stuff, and you could do like a little nativity scene, and then get a really big letters and write The Jesus on the back window. Now that would be awesome! haha jk...sorry I dont have any good ideas

Kandied, I really like the tear away paint theme, but have you thought about a "burn away" paint theme? I've only ever seen one car done this way at all of the car shows that I've gone to. It was on a 30's Chevy coupe...

The fronts of the fenders were painted silver to look like bare metal, with air brushed rivets in a line at the body panel seams. It also had small "charred" spots here and there. About at the rear of the front fenders was an air brushed fire, leading into a mix of semi classic/realistic flames down the side of the car over a base of yellow pearl.

Something similar to this idea with silver evil-ish bare metal-look front, a mix of candy gold metalic and candy red metalic flames, then a black base coat on the fenders -> rearward portion of the car would look killer!!!

I have a pic of that yellow street rod at home if you're having trouble visualizing it.

How wild are you looking at? Also, instead of black, how about a royal metallic blue, or candied blue? How patriotic are you? I had been doodling a flag scheme a while ago for the heck of it and now I've just started it up again.

It starts at the front with the stars and goes up half the hood. The stars would be a nice metallic silver set on the deep blue. The stripes would follow until half the car and they would be candy red and silver. Out of the stripes would be a gold backlight fading back in to candy red.

The one thing the makes this different from other flag schemes is that the blue edge is flamed as are the edge of the stripes.

If this sparks other ideas, good! If you use it, even better!

You know, I don't think theres an original idea left in this world!
I guess it all comes down to who does it better.

Oh well, back to the drawing board!

I'll still submit it anyway. It's a cross between flames and tribal.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I know I have a pic of a tribal look and flames too... I can't find it right now though. It was on a fat fendered *****'s Coupe at last year's Good Guys Midwest Nationals (at the Iowa State Fairgrounds). I have over 400 pics from that event out of almost 3,000 cars though... so I may not be able to find that one, or may just be overlooking it.

The rod above I took at this year's Good Guys show. I have a couple of pics of other patriotic themed cars too, but I can only find this wagon at the moment...
