Re-Finish Factory Rims

Does anyone know where you can send factory clear-coated rims to be re-finished? I have a 1990 Formula WS6.

alright man, i though about doing this myself, but then i looked at prices and your talking $1500 to do all 4. I decided to goto autozone and get something called "Aircraft Remover." this gets the clear coat off, then you get whatever oxidation off you have, then polish your rims with something like BlueMagic's Metal Polish, puts a silicone coat on the rims to protect them fropm anything.

Try calling wheel shops, and places that sell used wheels in your area. They should be able to direct you so someone who does this service. It will probably be about $150 per wheel.

Interesting....how much did that set you back? I don't think refinishing is an option for me, because my wheels have little nicks all over them.

I paid $150 a piece for them, and that included the core charge. They will recon your wheels for less than that, and you need to check because occasionally they have specials. They acid dip them, straighten any dents or bends, will paint the insets any color you want. then they remachine the face of the wheel, and finally clearcoat. I was in their plant in Hagerstwon, MD, really impressive set up. Wheels look better then new, and they are easy to keep after with the full clear coating. warranty included. here is a pic I took last week, I bought these wheels about 3 1/2 years ago...

and they have mulitple locations around the US

will they sell you used, reconditioned wheels? Mine are way too far gone to use, I mean WAY too far gone.

yeah you can buy used wheels, but let them see your old ones first, you would be totally shocked at what they can fix. I saw a BMW wheel that was practically folded in half with a huge chip out of its edge and they were able to fx that.
