People WITHOUT wheel adapters.
Are there any 17" wheels that don't require wheel adapters. I don't mean expensive custom wheels like boyds. I have about $650-700 to spend on wheels and I don't want to have to by those wheel adapters. SO if anyone can help will be appreciated and if you have pictures of your adapterless wheels please post.
You don't need spacers if you keep the same width and backspacing.
If you have 16 x 8 wheels, get 17 x 8 with the same backspacing, and find tires with the same overall diameter and it will bolt up just fine with no problems.

But if you get a 17x8 with the same backspacing as the 16x8, which also fits your car by the way, then the 17x8 will bolt up as well. The problem is finding some 17x8's with the same backspacing as the stock 16x8 Camaro wheels and staying within your budget. I dont know if $700 is enough to get a set of 17" rims and 17" tires. You might have to settle for 16's for that price.

I agree with CrazyHawaiian that it will be hard to find 17x8 wheels
with 4.5" BS in your budget. I personally would save the extra
$400 and get some nice two piece wheels for $1000-1100. This
way you can have a wider selection in styles and in sizes. I have
17x8 front and 17x9.5 rear centerlines and got them with 4.5"
and 5.5" backspacing respectively for ~$1100 shipped to my door
through Summit. By saving up the extra money I now have a
wheel that I like, with the back spacing that doesn't require
adapters.
This site is really good for the Boyd wheels and offers 17" sets for
$995.

This is just my suggestion, but good luck with your search.

Oh by the way here is a pic of my rear wheel, love the deeper dish.
I really need to get some better pics. If you want the pics bigger I can do that.

actually.... no.
you dont need spacers if you get wheels with the proper backspacing... width has nothing to do with it.... it just cant be too wide to fit in the wheel well.
so if you found a 14x4" you wanted or a set of 18x9.5" you wanted, as long as the backspacing allows it to fit, it clears the brakes, and it has the proper bolt pattern, you can bolt it on.
(theres also the issue of it being able to take the weight of the car, but every modern wheel ive seen can more then handle 3rdgens...)
now to the problem....... 3rdgens have wierd backspacing. so you are limited in the number of bolt on wheels. 2wd S10s have the same backspacing, so if you want to use them you can....
now to the reasons alot of people have 4thgen and C5 wheels...... they're cheap... the 10spoke camaro rims are well under 1k for wheel and tire.... add on $300 for the adapters and they are still a great deal.
i know you said you dont want to run adapters because of the cost issue, but wheels/tires are expensive....
if you poke around enough however, you can find later 16" stock 3rdgen wheels cheap.
matter of fact, i have some cruddy 15" early Z28 rims in the garage that i cant even get rid of.. lol.

Sorry my lips are sealed
. I wish I saw this site earlier, but I like my centerlines and they are really unique. The only thing I regret is that I should have went with 18", but with the roads in Vermont maybe I am better off. Thread Starter

THat price I listed didn't include tires at all. But after seeing these rims I am in love and I guess I can throw another $250 at a set of 17" rims. Here they are http://shop.sportruck.com/bcodd/cast/smoothie.htm
what offset do I need to get if I went 17x8 all around.

here is another set I have considered http://www.centerlinewheels.com/whee..._17%20x%208ed. I like this set the best though and they are the exact same price too.

If you want to use 17x8 all around go with a 4.5" backspacing.
I have the Centerline Matrix 5-spokes and went with a 17x8
with 4.5" BS up front and 17x9.5 with 5.5" BS so I could have a
wider tire in the back. For tires I used a 255/45-17 up front
and a 285/40-17 in the back and it looks really good. I would
personally go with a wider wheel than 8" in the rear if you are
going to spend the money.
I have seen a thirdgen with the dagger wheels on the centerline site and have posted the pic on here somewhere, you'll have to search.

I went with the ROH snypers. They are 17x9 all around but I can't remeber the backspacing. I ordered the ones made for 3rd gens. You can get them as low as 209 a wheel which is a great price for a wheel of this size. You will spend far more on good tires than you will wheels. Unless you get HRE's, Iforged and a couple other super nice wheels. I spent about 800 for tires and 800 on rims.

I just was looking at some boyds and I noticed that the smoothie 2's have a 17x10" width avaliable and I was wondering would those fit in the wheel well or not and what BSing would I need for a rim that big..
any 2 or 3 piece billet wheel is cutom made to fit your wishes. however only a few companies offer the barrels in 1/2 sizes so often your stuck with 7,8,9,10,11,12,etc sizes.
my 18x10's fit in the rear with no problems however i recently had the backspacing adjusted to line up with the fronts which require some modification of the inner fender to fit.
6-700 is reasonable on the cheaper 17" wheel but don't expect to get tires for that price. dealer cost for wheels like boyd and the rest are easily close to 300 a wheel. the smart decision would be to save up a little longer and get what you really want.

What is your current backspacing on your 18x10s? I have already made some extra room in my rear wheelwells, i want my wheels in as far as possible without modifying the rear suspension (bumpstops are gone, though).

If you go to my cardomain site you can see some more pics of my
car. I bought mine through Summit and they were ~1100 for all
four, free shipping. I really like the design and think it looks good
on thirdgens. If the pictures aren't big enough I can probably
e-mail you a larger image because I think I had to resize them for
cardomain.

A buddy of mine runs a custom wheel shop, he got them for me. Thy are made by Centerline FOR Pacer. Kind of odd that they make wheels for pacer???It had the shipping Label from Centerline to Pacer both with seperate part numbers but they are only offered by Pacer. Dont know if they still make em or not.
the new is 6.75 rear and 4.75 front for my 8/10 18" setup. requires slight modification of the inner well. basically the ridges that you see on the inside need to be flush...either bang them out or what i did was have a new plate welded. it's only 1/2" max keeeping them from working right, once it's modified they work perfect and the tires fit the stock dimensions so if you want to lower the car you'll have no problems.
