i think its straight bull**** if in fact he did pull a little scam... but then again he could have made a tad mistake and we could all feel like *******s for putting him down.. either way, with a contest of this magnatude (were talkin 500$) him or his helpers should be right on things when replying to posts about a raffle contest.. so for him not posting i frown on that.. either way.. at least i got my ss hood already with no problems.. cause i probably wouldnt deal with him after this little accident unless something miraculous clears things up :/ either way i hope he posts about this tomorrow or im sure there will be locals coming to his shop with crowbars and 2x4's

 

If wowcolor is indeed a user from another board, all Rex would need to do is to point us to the board he is a member of, and at that time we can verify that he is a true member, not some new registration.

HAHAHA this is all really funny to me. I would kill for a free fiberglass hood but i didnt enter the contest out of principal because of what he had done to trigger gta. And the worst part about what he had done to trigger gta had nothing to do with the money or even the service but the fact that he wouldnt even respond and address the problem. The one thing ive noticed here is that when REX screws up he is spineless and runs away with his tail between his legs. Like i said i find this all funny....this whole issue seems like something that would have happened back in elementary school....as funny as i find this its horribly depressing that this is happening....just out of how juvenile it is.

 

Do you really think it would solve the problem if I said who i really am? that will just cause me problems. Ill be banded from here, which i have loved for a while. i was just trying to help build a case up against him. What would have happened if he came on and said that indeed i was the winner, you guys obviously would have have noticed otherwise, and put him in a real bad situation. Making no posible way for him to talk his way out of it. We would have caught him red-handed. If i had not chimed in and did what i did this could have gone unnoticed. This was a publicity stunt that backfired onto rex, and there is no way i will take the fall with him

Well, I guess that I'll have to put in my two cents here.

The way I see how he is running the "contest" on different boards is irrelevant other than the fact that nobody has rightfully and legitimitely claimed their prize (to the best of our knowledge).

The threads are also titled THIRDGEN.ORG Hood winner and CAMAROZ28.com Hood contest winner. To me, that means they are two seperate contests, not the same over multiple boards. Then again, I do seem to read too far into things a bit.

thats quite intelligent....the problem with coming up with intelligent reasoning to figure out a problem is the person who created the problem isnt all that bright so figuring out what makes sense isnt always the right answer.

 

well, after announcing wowcolors, all an admin would have to do is search and find that there is no such user as wowcolors, making things actually easier for everyone in the long run.

And if you just come clean I'm sure you won't be banned. If you're worried about your reputation just PM a mod or admin so we can at least get somewhere on this matter. And your IP, even though it may be dynamic, can be traced to an extent. And that's a double sided sword, since, it's hard to really match up who you really are, so it'll be hard to ban your ip. So you can't really argue to not show your real name.

note: I'm not blaming wowcolors or Rex at all, I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and I'm just trying to help.

 

Ok, I'm a little tired, and I'm not quite sure what I said made too much sense.

Basically, instead of Rex giving out ONE hood total across the internet, his constests would end up give him three (or more) *cough* winners .

Would you not get a different IP address from AOL to Compuserve even though you're using a dial-up modem from the same phone number ?

i.e. Rex= AOL - IP #1
wowcolor=Compuserve - IP#2
both could signup from the same phone # yet the 2 ISP's will assign different (static?) IP's.

I could be wrong... I'm not that savvy about IP spoofing.

Let me give my insight on this....

When I came home from work, I checked this thread right away hoping to see my name. Sadly, some guy named wowcolor won. So after that kicked in, I was happy for him
Now I read about how its a scam and all...
It sounds like Rex is ****ed, regardless if it was his fault or not. After reading the thread about the bad hood with bad customer service, I will NOT buy a hood from this company. I was honestly going to this spring, buy I doubt I will now.
Unless Rex comes clean.....
and gives us 50% off to make amends:P jk, I just want the truth

just to add, he could have used a proxy server to hide his real IP. The mods should contact the proxy server and they will release his real IP since this is serious

 

I think after seeing he messed up bad here, he just posted a name. That way if he posts a name rather than a user name, he can just make up some random name and tell people that "Mark" contacted him and recieved his hood (which fits perfectly)

A reputation lost over a 500$ hood. You have to question a company when they would choose to take that risk. Doing something local as what he's done is bad enough, but hitting the internet, and knowing what it's capable of, not a smart choice.

I still remember the grand national guy that was scamming people, or the recent one about the ebay scam where the dealer did not want to sell the car for the price it sold at. I can promise you that the ASCD name will be remembered by many if it spreads like it did on either of those cases. Very foolish mistake on ASCD part, I certainly hope he can explain this, but there is a good chance his name as already been hurt in some ways.


If rex admits to fault here, I'm interested in hearing why he would do something as foolish as that.

wowcolor-just pm a mod and tell them your real name, i doubt you'll get banned. I personally dont care on what you did, and others dont either. Its rex their mainly pissed about.

 

Something I found fishy before the winner was even announced, was the requirement of a picture with your new hood after you won.
What if some guy with a rusty, old, bent up z28 won, would a business really want that picture on their website? Doubt it.

I am locking this thread for at least tonight because it is going to get way too huge and out of control. It will remain a sticky, so spread the word, but now its just a bunch of people asking the same few questions for Rex and "wowcolor". The issue is done with on our end of things. All we can do now is wait for Rex to come up with a pretty imaginative story.

Normally I wouldn't allow off-topic stuff on the board. But since you got yourself into such a mess, feel free to make a nice long post explaining yourself and post it right here in this forum for everyone to read.
