? for those who polished formula wheels..

How did you sand inside where it says pontiac and inside the round allen head looking things? The only thing I could think of was a dremel.
After that, how did you paint in there, or did you? I don't really feel like masking off fifteen billion holes and that tiny *** pontiac indent. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm don't think that you can polish inside of those tiny letters. I suggest you just pain them black or maybe another color to accent your car.

A good way to do it w/o masking it off, is to coat the surface that you don't want painted with a very light coat of oil....then paint away. When you are done just wipe the oil away and you havent painted on your polished surface.

Hmm.....not a bad idea. Maybe if that doesnt work, I'll go out and get a tiny model paint brush, and hand paint in there.

I dont think anyone has ever been able to polish the pontiac lettering. I know even I cant get into that small of a space and polish it.
Painting it body color along with the "spoke" areas makes a great contrast.

Yup, I just masked off the areas I did not want to get paint on, after polishing them, and cleaned up the area with acetone to make sure all of the polishing compound wax was off. Then I just sprayed away. Around the pontiac I just masked a square and sprayed over the whole area. Then I waited about 5 minitues, removed the masking tape and let it dry for about an hour. Then a took a clean cotton rag balled it up tight and put acetone on it and just wiped right over the area to remove the excess paint. The areas such as the pontiac are recessed it and didn't bother it a bit!

The allen head parts I didn't touch, they are just aluminum show pieces, it you accidently sand into one its no real big deal, not like they will rust and they actually polish up like the wheel. I had a few that were glued up a bit "proud" of the rim and parts did get sanded and polished a bit. I just left them, no one notices it. Or you could just do the same as the pontiac area and spray.

Thanks. I unfortunately can't leave it the way it is, cause the stripper got into that part and turned the paint yellow, so I gotta do something about it.

My stock wheels when stripped are quite shiney, unlike the 2 fronts I bought from my friend from his 89 Formula.
I put those on my rear so that I would have the same offset all the way around.
The ones I got from him are a silvery grey and when I strip them, it still stays silvery grey.
I'll take some pictures of my wheels tomorrow so you can see what I am talking about.

novass, that wheel looks incredible. You should come to VA and do mine for me. ::
