Dont deny it, we are all very proud of our cars, what do other people think?
My Iroc was loved by gearheads who knew about cars, but the average person would dismiss it as just another used car. My bird' is liked by most people though, the only exception being my girlfriend, who absolutely hates it. (and all of my other cars for that matter).
She thinks it gets more attention than her. (which is true
)
In general I dont think girls like thirdgens very much. Theyre more drawn toward the r*cer crowd and mistakenly belive that honda civics are sports cars. (thank you fast&furious 2
)
Anyway, what do you guys think?

well im 17 so being a bit younger make a difference but let me tell you when you have a beautiful silver iroc with an amazing paint job and a nice sounding engine the difference in how many girls notice you compared to when you dont have the car is rediculous. Honestly i let people think what they want about my car, its a bad *** american car flexing its muscles and the girls can like the imports all they want, theres nothing more embaracing when some import lines you up with a girl in the car and you totally smoke him.

everyone loves my car...
and people fear just because of its name.. well this is with the guys.
my friend was describing my other friends exhaust (acura integra GSR) and said that mine sounded like a monster roaring..... that makes me happy.. lol
my girlfriend likes it when she gets pushed into her seat when i press the gas, other than that, the only thing she knows about it, is that its black... lol
i get a lot of thumbs up from 40 year old women and boys under 10.. kinda weird.
but i guess because it looks so sporty - the kids like it. and it makes older women feel young.. lol

Want to feel a real rush??? Try watching your freshly polished t-top as it starts sliding off your car when youre coming off the enterance ramp doing 90
luckily i grabbed it and did not lose it.
As if this wasnt bad enough, she backed her moms car into my door 2 days later.
Like i said, my girlfriend really does not like thirdgens...

Most people think mine is just another car. Its not very appealing (paint flakes, door dings, stained rims).
Woman use to drive and love it, now she hates it.
I get no looks, but thats fine, keeps the haters away.

hi, there is a topic which I always need to talk with other people....in Taiwan, US cars are down more then 10 years, I am live in a crowded country, so small and so many people, the design of US cars may not fit here(big liter engline = super high tax, also many many QC problem...it is true), Japan & Europe cars are taking this place, some people will laugh off the people who drive American car....I have to fight them often..........but don't worry, that didn't stop me, never own a car which not GM, Buick Skyhawk, Grand Am, & you know that....Firebird now, young people here will not do the same thing, they buy Toyota, Honda, Mustbe****(sorry, bad word).....or 206, BMW 318, Audi A4.....if their parent are rich...., I am agree with "Dingley", older people and childred love my car, old people like American car and the childred just show the pure reaction for car they saw....
My girlfriend doesn't feel happy when I focus on my firebird....but she also know I am so in love with the American car, we have some great ride when we go out with the T-top open...........****ing rare in Taiwan
people just have to pay a attention on my T-top ride....
I will keep my firebird forever......how do you guy think about that!

My buddies like my car. Girls like it also because it is bright red, has t-tops, and has "shiny rims." Younger kids really dig it also. One little kid yelled "nice vette." I laughed and gave him a thumbs up.......most people think it is really fast because it says IROC on it. Hey let them believe what they want to.

my 4th gen used to get me tons of compliament, while my 91 has only gotten me about 5, which is good considering its only been drivin 3 times since i got it. I think its funny that people say its a nice car when inreality, to a thirdgenner (new word) its not very nice. But hey its better than someone saying, look at that junker with the nasty carpet nonspeedo working ******* car

Most people I've run across, love my car. It has that bright red front bumper (the rest is red too, just faded) that you can see for miles, and the rest looks pretty good from about 20 feet, so by the time they realize it needs paint, I'm gone. My wife on the other hand, I think she actually likes it more than me. I was thinking about selling it, and getting a C5, but she put the keibash on that plan in a split second.
Ever since I got the cut-out in it, I get a lot of the "holy ****, I think I just saw Elvis" looks and then I hear, "that is so sweet. How'd you do that?" I guess that is all nice, but I really couldn't care less what others think about it, I love it. And that is what matters.

Well most of my friends that I hang out with In Carbondale could care less about my thirdgen since they all drive imports. They think of it as some old tired car.
Even despite the condition my car is in, girls think its sexy or pretty. Yay!!

I recieved a few compliments on mine due to the loud *** exhaust and with the t-tops off people love to say stuff.
My 75 which is a total wreck lol, it looks okay from a distance, but the interior (seats basically) are ripped to pieces. This has dual 2.5 inch dumped with turbo mufflers under passenger/driver seat with LT headers. I dont usually race people in it, way to loud and probably only runs a 14 at best. But I love when going 20mph and the guy next to me is looking at me, then I hit it and the tires go up in smoke, thats the fun part

Yeah, I agree with Mr. TurboTA, I feel like I'm driving the bastard middle child of the century. It just doesn't "fit in"... Chicks don't really dig it either, but since it's low, on 18's, and bumps, it can pull it off there

Those people that know cars, go ape **** over my car, because it is so clean, and respect the work that I have put into it.
Younger kids say cool TransAm
.
Some of the average joes say, "hey where is the ******".
Anyone who I take for a ride, goes white. (wait till I am really done with the car, if that is ever possible).
For those that plan on hangin on to your thirdgen for a long time, I bet everyone will be saying hey look at that cool car 15 years from now.
That is all that I get now a days with my Nova (back in the day when I first got it 15 yrs ago, basically I got the same responses I get now a days with my formula.)

I have gotten my share of compliments. A guy in a new Vette gave me a thumbs up on the highway once. And another time I was pulling out of a gas station turning right and a guy stopped at the light in a BMW vert yelled "Nice car!". Those always feel good.
A lot of the domestic guys like my car at school (I go to UTI, a car school). I brought pics in and everyone wanted me to bring the car to class (but of course I have no ground effects on
)
The only comment I hate is when this happens:
Someone: So, what kind of car do you have?
Me: I have a Camaro.
Someone: Oh yeah? What year is it?
Me: Its an '89.
Someone: Ohh, its one of those Camaros.
They always expect me to have a 4th gen. Oh well, I like it and thats all that matters.

I have gotten good comments from people. Women usually like it and the guys I know always seem to have owned a faster car at one time but now it's crashed or of course they have a friend who runs 10's. I just love the later of the two.

I think the most common comment I get is "Is that hood stock?".
Everybody looks at it though. Sometimes I don't know if they like it or not, but they all look.
Mustangs don't seem to like it, they like to rev their motors at me.

Its funny how everytime i mention that i have a firebird to someone they always "know a guy who has one just like it only its powered by a ferrari v-12 and does 300mph on the highway" or something equally as ridiculous
once i even heard a guy claim that his dad had a camaro with 2 engines, a v8 in front for accelleration, and a v10 in the back for top speed. i think he was running in the 5 sec range and could do 200mph in 2nd gear
funny how everyone knows everything about cars these days:lala:

When they're done laughing, all the questions start---"what's in it? what'll it do? Nice color!! (Teal)

When I got my Formula in October, I was really afraid she would hate it. She's sensitive to loud nosies, and this car is LOUD. The dude who owned it before me put on a Flowmaster exhaust and cut off the dual cats, welded in straight pipe in their place. Plus it leaks somewhere. Sounds like a BEAR. It even bugs me. But my wife? She LOVES the sound of it. In fact she likes my Formula better than my '98 Trans Am.
"Is it just because I love this car?" I asked her one day. "I mean, are you just saying this to be nice to me?" She swore she wasn't...and that she really does love my old third-gen.
I knew I married her for a reason!
BTW, I always get people calling my car a Trans Am too, even though it says FORMULA 350 in huge letters on each side.
I don't really care what they say; just being acknowledged is cool. Had a young kid yell "Nice car!" in my direction as I was crusing home from work today. I haven't heard a kid say that to me since I bought my new Ram Air home in the summer of 1998.I also love saying "Yeah, I have an '89 Formula 350..." Nobody ever knows what the hell I'm talking about!

I love my car, most of the people I know too except my girlfriend... Because of the color, when I go driving in town, I get lots of comments like ''awesome car!'' from people walking in the streets, even kids... Maybe it's the ''TONKA'' like yellow color that catch their eyes lol...

People dislike both of my thirdgens.
I get all negative comments on my 82 like "Why do you even bother with that thing" or "Burn it" or "take it to the demolition derby" etc etc.......
I get some positive on my 90 like "cool car" but most are also negative like "whats with the 2 tone rims" or "thats a 305 its slow"

before i wrecked the car it got compliments everywhere i went. it had true dual exhaust with moroso spirals so it was fairly loud, but had an incredibly mean, chambered sound to it. it also has a big cam and stuff too...the thing that would really get people going was when i had the tops off, they could see the roll cage...any man under the age of 75 gave me a thumbs up.
i really liked it. can't wait to get the new combo built.

I get a lot of props and respect for my car. Around my area its been infested with a disease known as "euro-pox" so something that you can hear from a 1/2 mile away and DOESN'T make you want to stick your fingers in your ear is quite welcome. Also it's a rare color so people like that too. My favortie thing is when someone is walking by me when I get in my car and doesn't really give it to much of a thought, then when I start my car they do a double take with a slightly more than supprised look on thier face...

I have owned my Formula for almost 10 years now. I also owned a '96 Z28 from 8/98 to 3/01. I get more compliments on my Formula in a week than I ever did in the 4th gen in a year.
I get so many rubberneckers and people who approach me to buy my car. Ever since I put the Ronals on, it has increased.
I love it!

most people really like my car. my manager at work told me that it is a piece of crap and that it has no performance. its funny though, when i took him for a ride he was crying like a little baby. he kept tellin me to slow down. every time he said that i sped up more. he has never asked for a ride again

I dont understand why our cars can fall to a stupid name like *******, hicks and white trash. There are an *** load of decent cars that everyone seems to just turn away from. Like BMW, those older ones look like ****, perform like ***, and everyone who has them they are rusted out to nothing, and they cant afford new parts so they all have red tape for tail lights. Yet, the newer ones people can't get enough of.
I love my car, and I've only driven it 8km since I've owned it. Thats right 8 km. Since I have registered on this board, I've owned my car pretty much, and its been straight work. She is a beast and any little annoyance she may have, I'm sure Ill get over it.
My girl Friend loves my car, she thinks its great when my neighbour next door reves up his little CRX with the fart can on there, and you can just hear it driving away for probably 1/2 mile. Yet when I start my car up, my other neighbour walks across the street to have a look at her.
My car isn't a show car, and probably will never be. But that doesn't mean its not a nice car. Needs paint, and rims. But other than that I'm less than a month away from having her on the road, and when I do im going import hunting because I live in a town filled with imports, and anyone over 150HP seems to get noticed.
I'm glad that everyone in my town thinks Camaro's are pieces of ****, makes me feel better when I know im gonna just blow them away, kinda insult to injury I suppose

I get people freaking out about my car wherever I go.
If I drive down the street, I see people pacing me all the time, staring at my car. I think to myself "damn man, watch the road before you get into an accident".
I showed up at a billards hall the other night, was able to park right in the front entrance. While I was standing there I had no less than 3 people tell me how badass the car was, and one guy got on the phone to tell his friend about it.
Its a pretty cool feeling.

I'd say more than half the girls in my age range (18-25) don't really have too much interest in my car. Like the the guy above said. .. "What year?" . .."oh" a lot of chicks are into bright shiny NEW toys and don't care about a well taken care of old one. Those are the type of girls to stay away from!
As far as cool compliments I get these most often:
1. Wow, how many miles are on that???
2. Sounds great!
3. Laughter and questions about my license plate (I<3COPS)
4. Had a couple folks ask if it was for sale.
5. Other 3rd genners definitely like it.
