Ive gotten so many compliments i cant number them. Right from the very beginning when i got the car. Like when i bought it and was driving it back to my house which was an hour drive i got 2 compliments from someone on a bike (who tried to race me but didnt give in hehe), and someone in a IROC-Z as well.

Ive gone to a car wash 3 times so far to give it a final wash before winter time since its to cold to do it outside myself. And man the compliments and jaw dropping i get is unbelievable. It makes me feel really good, but i keep a nice straight professional face when they compliment me, but inside im giggling like a litte kid

I remember one time i was pulling out to a main road, and there was traffic, so everything was slow. But as i was getting in the lane, there was a Grand Am, which 4 teenagers in there. OMG, im telling there mouths were wide open, and there eyes were in shock. Of course i have tinted windows so they couldnt see inside, but i got a good look at them and it just was a awesome feeling.

Plus of course at the Woodward Cruise, and Gratiot cruise we have here, ive heard a few "hey, nice car!!!"

Id say so far its been teens, older ladies, and a few middle age guys.

And all my friends, and relatives have nothing but good stuff to say about it, they all love it, and in time ill have to give them all a ride in it. In fact all them know now how much i pamper that car, and they make fun of me. Like i tell them, listen theres no way id drive my car out there in the winter. And they usually say, look the roads are clear, and the sun is out. But im like, u see the white haze all across the road, thats called salt! Of course they dont understand, but i dont expect them too.

I love my car!

I cant take it anywhere without someone making me roll down the window!

But thats cool, it's nice to see that other people appreciate all the work I put into it.

My '91 RS turns heads all the time...especially from other third gen owners. Girls love it and I always get compliments about how shiny it is and how mean it sounds...even though it's only got a 3.1.

I get compliments pretty frequently. When I go through drive thru's the window worker usually says something. 3rdgenners at my college that see me in mine usually want me to pull over so we can talk 3rdgens. I get thumbs up on the road from time to time. A lot of people just stare and don't say anything, I haven't figured out if that's good or bad.......... And girls usually like it, they always ask what year it is and when I say 1984 they flip out. I've driven several different cars that I considered pretty cool but no car has ever gotten the attention that my firebird gets.:lala:

One time I went on a fun run with a bunch of r1cers, I talked to my friend the other day and he quoted on of the other guys. "That white camaro was fast(99 ls1), but that trans am looked damn mean." They actually thought my 88 lightly modded was faster than a stock 99 camaro, but hey thats ok with me. All the car guys I've talked with like my car, and a lot of people like the exhuast.

people that i know that know nothing about cars will sometimes call it a camaro. People that know a little will call it a transam (they're lazy and it's less sylabales than firebird). Everybody thinks it's a great car though. There's almost no *****'s in my town, or mustangs, or (come to think of it)not many other firebirds, so no one ever talks any smack

When I had it in Germany I had lots of fun with it. On nice days I'd go cruising with the tops off to Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and back to Germany, through little towns and cities, and people everywhere watched as I drove through. Little kids riding in other cars especially loved it if I was cruising along side their car.

I still stood out alot when I got back to WA though because I still had German plates on it that were good for a month. I'm suprised I never got pulled over with those.

My First Compliment

I got my first compliment within 15 minutes of actually purchasing my car.

I bought the car from a co-worker who wound up with it in a divorce. The car needed a lot of TLC and was in all honesty UGLY!

I met Lon at his apartment and paid him the money for the car. We put the top down for the trip back to work and I started off. I had driven less than a mile and on approaching a stop sign I noticed this fifteen year old (or so) kid walking in my direction.

He was walking and staring. As I stopped at the stop sign he was about even with me and he said. "MAN! I like your car!." I replied, Thanks, I just bought it a few minutes ago, and I've only driven it about a mile so far." He said, " I REALLY like your car! I thanked him again and drove on down the road.

Even before I ever did anything to her my car was already turning heads. I would go to a gas station and almost always have someone compliment or come up and talk to me about plans for the car.

Before and since the restoration process started I have had numerous people stop me to ask if the car was for sale.

It's no secret - I love my car!

I've had responses from all sorts of people across the entire gamut of opinions, but the one I remember most is as I was trying to find a parking spot for July 4th last year, a boy like 8 or 9 years old goes "wow, that car is awesome!" to his friend or brother or something. I gave him the thumbsup.

My old Iroc everyone seemed to love. Had an awesome sound system, and a odd ball custom color. Ex girl hated the car. Bought a white 91 Z28. Ex girl still hates car, but loves to drive it....Looks like hell up close, runs like hell, but all the 3rd genners here in Tidewater Va dig it.

Old Iroc....

sadly, most people dont even know what a 3rd gen is and when they do see one its usually a peice of trash. that paints a nice portrait of the long lost 3rd gens to those people.

Everyone said my car was really nice. It's the only third gen camaro around here. My girlfriend loves it but she calls it a tampon because it's white and red. most of the r*cers at my school dont give it a second thought becuse their convinced it's only a v6 because it's an RS.

I mostly get good comments.

I used to give this girl a ride to school in the morning and she would seriously get turned on in it, too bad she was going out with my best friend. Because of her I don't tlak to either of them anymore.

When I first got my car I was showing it off to some friends and this guy sat on it with a spiked belt. I yanked him off, threw him into a shelf, and told him to stay the hell away from my car.

People are always giving me crap about how much I love my car so I go off on a tangent about how I'm married to it and stick her in the tailpipe. After that they just shut up and walk away.

Only negative comments were because it was a chevy.

These are all about standard comments for mine, too. Too new to be respected by the older hotrodders, too old to be respected by anyone else, and its still an 80s car. My friends label my car 'the ******', used to **** me off, now I just play along.

Ive honestly never got a bad commment. Ive been pulled over by a cop who just wanted to check it out. Ive been asked to a small party by a car full of girls one night, and get lots of looks and tonnes of thumbs up. A few times Ive came out of stores or whatever and found people walking around my car. It gets more attention right now then my 95 formula (but havent gotten a chance to do much with that yet)

hmmm, the irony of it..... the r*cers don't give it a second look 'cause it's "only" a v6, but if you had a 4 cylinder civic with a "racing exhaust" *cough*fartpipe muffler* they'd be all over it.

when I had my maro, my girlfriend loved it. I even had her friends all over me for it lol, hrny bitches . All of the girls I know loved my maro. Unfortunatly I couldn't afford insurance 475 a month cause I'm 17 so I had to get rid of it.

I then bought my 1979 Ford econo. I rebuilt the engine, redoing the interior, and the girls already love it more then my maro. I have had 2 girls ask me if they could take a ride in my ******* wagon, when its done. And besides its a helluva lot cheaper then my maro was, only 279/ month/.

You need to find a new insurance company. My bill is only $120 a month and thats with comprehensive. Do you have an outstanding arrest warrent or something???

What Im still trying to figure out, is why my Bird' costs more than my Z. The 'bird is a v6, and the Iroc was a 350, yet the Z was $40 cheaper. I asked them why and they told me it was because the Firebird is a much smaller car and its not nearly as safe in an accident....

So I told them that I built them both and it was the SAME CAR!!! They said I obviously knew nothing about cars

I still havent figured that one out yet. I guess cars with pop up headlights just arent as safe

I'd a schooled them on the way of the ThirdGen. Do they know they are the same platform? Or did they figure, "hmm, Chevy, Pontiac, yup, different cars...

I think a lot of people who do not know cars do not understand the concept of a common platform.

One time I was telling a girl to be careful about hitting my door she said "why it already needs a paint job."

Today I got stopped next to a bus full of kids. Every kid on my side was staring out the window at my car. I gave one kid the peace sign and he got this huge excited look on his face and started bragging to his friends.

All the other ppl "Nice car what's the MPG?", "Is it LPG"
Da*n I hate when ppl try to be smarta**es about sb elses cars. They just need to get a life.
So I guess comments on my car are rather negative

When I was looking I considered 4th Gens a few times due to the lack of reasonable 3rds in this area. Every time I walked away from the dealer saying "Its got power, but I don't like how it looks."

Too many people think the newer cars are superior in every way just because they're new. If you styled a car after a rock people would think its great because its new.

well that's because my car gave me so much trouble that most of the time it sits in the shop (2 engine rebuilds in two years - and I only did 4000 miles between them) so my g/f thinks that a newer car would give me less trouble
c'mon guys maybe you can help me convince her - I want to buy a notchback but she says to get a 4gen instead

I like how my thirdgen looks. But other than that I like my fourth gen Formula in every other way. And once I get the rims I want on the 4th gen and slam it, Im sure I will like the looks alot more.
Ive had 2 thirdgens and 2 fourthgens and I gotta say, I like the fourth gen alot more.

My Thirdgen is PAID FOR. That in itself makes it look MUCH BETTER than any other car I could concieve of...

At this point I have about 1/3 the investment in my thirdgen that I would have in a fourth gen that I had not even started working on yet...

Appearance aside - Dollar for Dollar I think I am still waaaayyyyy ahead of the game playing with the thirdGen over the fourth...

Sounds like you either ran the dogwater out of those two engines or else you need a better mekanik!

Considering appearance the only thing that even compares to the thirdgen is the late model TA's...

Of course I'm still kicking myself over the '78 Vette that got away...

Most of the time, I receive positive feedback...probably because it doesn't look too bad after all these years. However, the reaction is always more positive when they see it in person than when I tell them about it. go figure...
Oh yeah, I always thought thirdgens were much better looking than 4thgens...

I paid $6500 (canadian dollars) for my fourth gen....and it was perfect but fairly high mileage (well maintained tho)

Around here, a decent thirdgen goes for the same cash. So dollar for dollar I wouldnt say the thirdgen is all that great. And if you wanna put appearance aside, A fox body Mustang is way better. I love thirdgens but My brothers have had countless mustangs and it is a better car. (imo)

That is weird, the only thing I like about my 4th gen is the styling and the engine/tranny. I don't think it is near as nice to drive, nor handles near as well as my WS6 GTA, or is really more reliable then any of my 3rd gens were when they had 29k on the clock... Course, if I had a LT1 I couldn't even say I liked the engine and tranny better, as I was absolutely unimpressed with the 97 WS6 TA I drove.

Well Ive never seen overly impressive numbers coming from an L98. LT1's make decent power stock and respond well to mods. (my bro has a 383 LT1 and its been through everything....its great) as for trannys, a 70r4 is the same as a 4th gen's auto except the 4th gen's is electronic. And for standard....you cant compare a T-5 to a T56.

One thing I can say about an LT1 that sucks.....the stupid leaky waterpump over the distributor. otherwise theyre awesome motors

I only payed $3500 (American) for my car and it only had 95,000 miles on it. Perdy good for a car that age! The thing runs like it just came off the showroom floor, and what I don't think the previous owner new, my car is one of only 2,787....

I love the way the last of the Firebirds look. I think they are sweet as #^$@, but as far as fun to drive, I prefer my Camaro...

My Thirdgen is PAID FOR. That in itself makes it look MUCH BETTER than any other car I could concieve of...
Well put!

All of you in the west and down south seem to have the ******* stigma down pat so I will throw something new into the mix.

For starters, when driving in the city, people stare but that’s because it's bright red and loud. Throw in a few tattoos and a shaved head (by genetics, not by choice) and you can tell by the look on their faces, that the thought is not favorable.

There's also the notion that these are old guido cars (Italian Retard Out Cruising) that have been discarded and picked up by, and only by, metal heads. Dirtbags and posers alike.

The older people by me say it's an immature car. The younger people, who are mostly into Uncle Bens’ cars anyway, say it’s an old person’s car. Can't win for losin'.

I usually prove the older crowd right with a rev or a hard launch and I shut the ricers up with the same.

Either way, all my friends say it’s me.

How to take that, I don’t know

wow I always thought 4gens handle better, LT1 and LS1 with T56 are the way to go however swapping those to a 91 Formula would be :hail:
