Best memories in your thirdgen

What do you remember most about your thirdgen?

I remember when I bought my Iroc, I was 16 and got it for $700 and trailered it home. I worked solid for 10 months rebuilding her, new 350, t-5 swap...the works. I was very proud of that car, and I miss her a lot.

My Bird' has only been with me since last May, but weve had some good times. Blasting down interstates at triple digit speeds, and embarassing imports. (as well as you can embarass them with a v6)

Probably the best feeling I can imagine would be just to be cruising down the back country roads at my lake house on a warm summer evening with the T-tops down and my flowmaster gently rumbling in the backround.

What about you guys? Lets hear your best (and worst) times in your thirdgens.

Lets keep this appropriate please, dont force the Mods to lock it.

On three separate occasions I have had people run in to the back of stopped vehicles at stop lights while they have been looking at my car. All were low speed and no one got hurt, this is why I hate having cars right next to me while moving

The first time I started the motor that I built. This past summer especially stood out in my mind, going to car shows and seeing how many people liked and appreciated all the time I put into the car.

Random people at stoplights saying "cool car", and the heads that turn when they hear the exhaust. Also just cruising around at night, cutout open, windows down... just alot of fun. I think I'm gonna end up keeping this car for a lonnngg time

Right now, to date, beings I've had the car for 6 months and I'm still waiting for my liscense...i've got 2 memories that stick out in my mind. 1. My dad and I went to pick her up after paying and all. We drove it home and then I got to drive it to my friends house to show him. It was just a fun time, even though a lot of stuff was broken on it. The hatch motor was broken and wouldnt engage, and the shocks in both the hood and hatch were worn out so when I hit a bump the hatch would open and close, and I had to hold the hood up with a broom stick. There were other things wrong with her but I wont get into that. My 2nd memory was when I was driving home from swim practice and 3 imports were in front of me, all mid 80s early 90s accords and such. All with fart pipes. An SUV is up in front turning, the lane to the right is clear, and not one of the imports decided to go around, they all sat there and revved. My dad told me to go around, and as soon as I began making the pass the leading import decides to put his pedal to the floor, I did the same. I was in first gear, and I've got 2.73s in her, so she revved pretty high in first, so the import was staying even. Then I hit 2nd and shot from around 35-40 up to 70 in no time and the accord was at least 3-4 cars behind me. I proceeded to take his lane and go home. That was the first time I really gave the car some juice. I remember my dad and my neck both being put into the seat. Gotta love it.

mine has got to be when i first drove the car home, and the first time it chirped 2nd. i had waited so long for that day. on the way home i took it to a car wash and some guy circled the car wash lookin at the car... man the feeling i got then was an awesome feeling. but i think things might change here as i'm wraping up swapping to a t56... and that will be tons of fun and if it doesn't surpase the best day it will come darn close!

In my purple haze on in high school it would be ...the many times I had sex in the passenger seat lol The first time my dad had to help me move it out of the back yard the next morning (theres trees all around our driveway and caterpillar **** was getting all over it..so I parked in the back yard and the ground was wet) and my girlfriend had left a nice juicy spot on the seat..he noticed it and just kinda smiled ...it ended up being a permanent mark..not too noticable but hey it was a good memory

In my new on I cant really say, I have fun every time I drive it.... yesterday I was next to some civic with a huge fart can. We were in traffic, he was in front of me and kept revving his engine and tailing the person in front of me...so naturally I assumed he wanted to race... so theres finally a little clearing so I get beside him and give it gas there was a red light right ahead and a car in my lane so I got in front of him. I revved it up a little and he revved his so I just figured hed try to play keep up. Turns green I give a little peel out and the guy doesnt even try (I'm assuming it was a little faster than that?) he was like 5 car lengths behind me after like 1/8 of a mile...fun stuff.
Oh wait I guess the most memorable would be when I first saw it when we went to look at it...the car was in N. Ohio and me and my dad drove all the way up to check it out....I just remember being pissed the whole way thinking they were lying about the condition and then I saw it and sure enough...it had A scratch but it was A scratch no dents nothing and I was happy...then I drove it home...

I really remember finally letting my car rip loose (for an lg4). I was leaving my buddies house, and they wanted to see a good burnout. Of course I couldnt back down, so I brake torqued it for a good while and turned onto the main road sideways, and whipped the tail end alittle each way, and chirped second. It was really sweet! It was seriously so smoooth.

No sex in my car.

It's weird, I've only been "without" it since it threw a rod in mid December, but I miss it so much. I really mean it when I say that no matter how crappy a day I had at work or school, walking to my car, getting in, and cruising home washed it all away. I really miss that. I miss not minding having to get up in the morning to go somewhere, because I loved the drive. Sheesh, I'm gettin' all emotional... I gotta fix that thing...

The random people that say "Nice car!" when you're on the road, or give you the thumbs up. By far the best memories are just cruising in a freshly cleaned ride... the feel of being a badass... nothing like it in the world. Also, some very very beautiful and sweet girls have complimented my car, that helps me feel better about being me also

too many good memories of the camaro, the day i went to pick it up almost 3 years ago, driving it on to the tow dolly,

The very first time i really got to drive it, nailed it ona turn and ended up facing my buddy that was behind me, scary yet, the most fun ever, hahaha., didnt expect a 2.8 to do that to me,

and i have to agree with the guy who said cruising around in a freshly cleaned 3rd gen, windows down, flying out the highway, nothign else quite like it, compliments and all are fantastic too, needless to say i love my camaro, every day since i bought it,
can't say i can say the same thing about the winter car i bought.

ahh the memories. My first car was an 84 Z that me and my dad picked up for 300. Had a shot tranny and a messed up front end and hood. It was a great project. I learned a lot from it. We put a lot of hard work into that car. I spent hours cleaning it and cleaning up the paint. It looked great once I was finally done with the paint. It was like a whole new car. It always felt good after you washed it. Taking it for a spin and feeling like you own the road. My worst time in my 3rd gen was when I was in an accident I got rearended and now my car is totaled I miss it. At first after the accident I didnt know what to do with myself. I miss it but now I got the 83 so things are getting better. Got big plans for it

I'd say one of my favorite memories was when my mom and dad surprised me with my camaro by driving 3 hours away to pick it up. Dad drove it home by taking one of the plates off our jeep and sticking it on there, praying they wouldn't get caught or in an accident. They then stuck it in the garage before i got home. Well i went to get dog food, i opened the door, saw its outline in the darkness sitting there. My dad also has a camaro so it didn't dawn on me that his was outside. I didn't pay any attention to it until i flipped on the light, i was just so used to his sitting there. Well anyways... they suprised the **** out of me, I had a giant smile walking back into the house.

Another was when i raced my friend from a stoplight and wasted his *** in his new car.(he had previously had a camaro and wrecked it a week after his parents bought him it )

And everyday at school the kids in the parking lot giving me the peel out hand motions, makes ya feel good driving a 16 yr old car. I know I'm never gonna get rid of my camaro, i have so much fun driving it.

Wooo...so many memories. I've had my '82 Firebird since December 11th, 1989. The best memories were the first couple years. I graduated high school in 1990 and we partied a lot!!! I think the best times were the small road partys we had just sitting around our cars out on some country roads listening to the '80's hair bands and drinkin'. Of course, there's also the time I managed to go through a railroad crossing at 55 MPH when the gates were down (not easy!!!) Also, I ran over some drunk kids legs after he puked in my car. (That'll show him.) Geez, I could go on forever!!! I need indy82z to reply to this since he was around for most of it. (Tom loved our trips to Taco Bell.)

Unfortunately, most of the fun came when the car was just a plain V6 beater. The car got painted in '91 and I had to start taking better car of it after that. Then it got an engine swap in '93 and I had quite a bit of fun with it that summer. However, now the car just lives in the garage and has only seen the road a handful of times in the past ten years.

Eventually the car will come back out to make some new memories (this year?) but they'll never beat the old ones.

Well, i won't have any memories IN the car until my 18th birthday in May. But I have to say the best thing about owning a Z28 Camaro is the huge list of girls that want a ride in it whenever it's all done.. :lala:
I love my car

I didn't even have to think about this one. I remember exactly what my best memory is in my car. I went to go pick it up for the first time with my bro and dad and I couldn't wait until I got the keys in my hands. The weather was perfect and the first thing I did was take the t tops off. My bro got in the passenger seat and we cruised home on the highway with the wind in my face and the rumble of the v8 in my ears. I got home and dropped my bro off and I had to go cruising. The first place I went was to suntrust bank where my best friend worked at the time. She ran up and hopped in and told me how great the car was. She was the first girl to ride in my car and she's been my gf for almost 2 years now. With great cars come great women. Damn, third gens are great!

Fondest memory...

Would have to be this one night after this chick I was dating Blew me off, I drove to a local football stadium parking lot with fresh asphalt. It was misting slightly outside and that "stupid girl" song was on the radio. The stadium had the big lights on and I drove to the middle of this huge parking lot completly empty and let the smokin donunuts fly.... This thing was going all over the place. WAYYY better than the tilt-o-whirl. There's a dance hall across the street and there was a party there or somthing, people came outside and cheered for me, coolest **** when your in a bad mood.

best memory was before I can really remember, but this is what my dad told me.

My dad was looking for a Camaro and looked around all the lots and finaly found one that he liked. On the day he was going to talk price with the saleman, be brought a 3 year old me along. He told me to remember 16-8. My dad sits down with the salesman and argues the price down from 17.5 to 17k. I sat down in the corner and they gave me some toys to play with. My dad keeps saying "Im not paying more then 16.8" The salesman said he cant go any lower then 17k. My father looks over to me, and says, "Hey Alex, tell the man what daddy is gunna pay him"
And I just looked up at the both of them, and I said "16-8." The salesman flipped out and they agreed on 16.8k.
I can remember my dad and I driving on a nice summer day, driving down to my grandma's and when he punched it, the feeling I felt that no other car at the time gave me. I called the car the "Batmobile" because it sounded so cool and it was fast.
Well, 17 years later, I drive my dad around in the car.
The best complement so far that my dad has given me was when he took the car out for a ride one day, which he hasnt done since the mid 90's, and said the car feels a lot faster, and a lot tighter then he remembers. I thought that was pretty cool.

Best to date has to be seeing the look on a buddy's face after I beat him in my first race with the new engine. The guy has been racing longer than I've been alive (me being 25). Before that, it has to be the day I rolled the car out of the paint booth after spending hours and hours of doing body work then a couple days of painting. Gonna have to go through that again soon hehe think I've finally decided on my next paint job for the car.

Worst, when I wrecked it.

Best, trying to fix it for the last year or so.

Almost there.

having just moved to FL, driving around with my mom in her camry. still feeling bummed out about the move and leaving my 88 red Formula behind weren't even looking to buy another car. when out of the corner of my eye i see this red car that looked like a firebird parked in front of a used car dealer. turned around and went in. turned out to be a formula a few days later i found myself in disbelief as i was pulling out of the dealer with my third thirdgen bird.

everything after that is all full of good memories.

My best memory in the Camaro, a buddy and I were driving in Scottsdale, and ran into two guys in an NSX. We had been auto-xing that moring. I still had the BFG R1's on, so I look at the guy driving the NSX. He looks at his buddy looks back and says "don't even try it." I had to then; we ran from a stop. No contest. I killed him outta the hole. and he stuck to my bumper till about 80. We turn onto this twisty road through the hills. I wait till we're even at about 35 and mat it. He pulled me in the upper rpm's but every time there was a curve I'd pass him on the inside lane. We stopped at the light afterwards. He leaned out and asked What the hell did you do to that car. I smiled and said "tires" I love that car.

My best memory .. hmmm either choku's down the straight at 70mph in RS, or staying ahead of a 700hp Supra until he passed me (VERY FAST) at 140mph in my Z28. Both of those stand out to me ...

I'd have to say the first day driving my car after getting the 355 put in. Also getting some hot austrillian girls to pose next to my car and hanging out with them for a day. Too bad the picture came out bad. They heard these cars are fast is what i was told.

Also, our former car club get together at Starved Rock area was cool too

There are so many memories in either of my Iroc's. Of course the first one(88' 350) will always have a place, it's the car that got me respect when I went street racing. I was pissed when I heard her knocking at the track.... But the second(89' 350 G92), and currently under construction car(no oil pressure) has given me some memories too. It too has earned me respect. The first day back street racing everyone was like, so how fast is this one...lol Everytime I have had needed to get in and drive, everytime I've paddled someone who was ignorant about thirdgens, or when someone says, "Hey, how much nitrous you got?", and you don't have any, those are the memories that stand out. Can't wait to get my baby back....AFR's on order, engine kit, and cam on the way within a week.........can't wait!!

The look on a cops face as he comptemplated writing a ticket for my 85 Z28 which was parked in a handicapped slot with the handicapped permit on the dash. As my 73 year old mother totters out to the car, gets in and asks the cop to move because he's blocking her and then drives off.

the best time ive had in my car was honestly before i owned it. I was in my search for a late model third gen camaro and while this was only the second one i looked at as i heard the tpi 350 fire up through true duals and chambered mufflers i knew that if everything checked out i had to own that car. I remember going for a test drive in this car (the owner was driving i dont even think i had my full license just my learners permit) and that seat of the pants feeling i got from being in the car. My friend/personal mechanic was in the car too and as he put it on the phone that night "You NEED to buy that car man!" ......long story short....i did
