Had a stupid idea.

Well I keep getting rear ended (lightly) and it scuffs my paint. I'm sick of shelling out $200-300 to get the bumpers redone. Should I just start canning them? I mean, I can sand and paint them for under ten bucks. The only problem is that I cannot match my color exactly. They don't sell Dark Bright Teal Metallic anymore. I can get close with dark bright aqua... I did my rear deck that color and it's hard to tell.

Anyway, I'm just rambling. I'll end up painting it that way anyway. But is it really that bad of an idea? how much better is a pro job than a can?

Pro jobs can be damn near perfect, if not actually perfect. Spray can is gonna be noticeable up close, might be good form 20' away though. I would just try to avoid being rear ended.

generally rattle can doesnt have the same shine as a pro job, not as refelctive and such and while if done really well its not too noticeable on its own, put it up beside a professionally done piece and youll see the difference

best cheapiest option.....

go to auto body supply store and ask em to mix u good auto grade paint in spray can.

trust me it works its auto paint and shines has everything the same as spray gun paint because thats what it is only they put it in spray can already mixed and thinned and put propelant in it to make it spray can paint.

its lil more expensive bout 10 to 20 a can but well worth it.

u could do an excellent paint job on yur bumper w/ one full can sand it w/ 100 grit and compound buff it n junk n it be perfect.

but right outta the can wil be great!!!

we done every accessory and the new doors and bed and tail gate on our s10 w/ it it works awesome.

Some places can match ur paint, AND put it in a spray can for you. Works like a charm, put the can 1/2 in warm water so it sprays better, no one will know the diff

I know for %100 sure they can. I got LordCo to get me a thing of my paint, took an additional 15 mins to put it in a can, Its expensive, about $25-$30 for a big can, U can use some spray on primer, Rattle can everything Obviously you cant get the same look, but it works PERFECT for just patching up some spots

Ill post pics of b4 and after mine, once i get around to it

Next time you get rear ended, call the cops. If the bitch that hit your takes off, get their liscense plate #. If they have insurance, that'll take care of it. If they don't, they'll get cited.

it always happens in parking lots or on the side of the road, never while I'm in it. My car has never been rear ended going more than 2 mph.

Dont can it man, just dont.

As for that compresed spray can from the body shop, i got one, at my shop, its not great, nowhere near close to as nice as my real paint gun.

Jus get ti painted, and make sure you tell them to use a flex agent in the paint, BullDog is a great one, other then that, just dont do it....
