Firebird to T/A Hood?
Well, I just wanted everyone's opinion on something. Do you think that it would be in bad taste to put a Trans Am hood on my 2.8L Firebird? I really like the aggressive look of the vents on the Trans Am hood, but i don't want to **** my car out. You know like Vtec emblems on a civic; I only want the hood because I think it's cool.

I think the vented trans am hood would look fine on your car. I think it would be different if you wanted the power bulge hood. I say go for it.

About the power bulge hood . . . you said it would be different. Now, different as in good or bad?

I put a power bulge hood on my car a little while back, and I have never regretted it. I felt the same as you before it got put on, but after looking at the car with it on, the difference is sooo worth it.... it gives a more agressive look to the car.

I think I'm gonna look into both! I never cared for the power bulges but I've grown accustomed to them since I've entered the F-Body scene. I still think I like the vented T/A hoods better; the hardware seems to imply purpose . . . what a difficult decision! Oh well, I'll just rummage through the local scrapyard and see if i can find something to protect my powerplant.

With whatever I do, I just hope that others don't condemn me for it. *** knows that I hate it when people try to pass their cars off as something else; if that were my intention, I wouldn't really care what you guys thought. But, since the only opinions I actually care about are those of other f-body owners, I wanted to make sure I was putting together a tasteful car. I do love a clean car!

Go for the power buldge hood, its my fav. hood of all that are available for the bird. My formula came factory with it and well its a v8 but you know the v6 isn't that much weaker than the 305.

as long as you dont badge your car as something else its fine... my hood had a "5.0 liter" sticker on the bulge... if i woulda put another one on after it got painted, that woulda been r*ce... but i think that the hood by itself is fine...

how bad would it be to put a power bulge on an Iron Duke?

I plan on putting this hood on my car after I get the car repainted. Which may be a while now that I think about it.
I say the vented T/A hood looks good on any firebird, trans am or not. Ive seen S/E's with them and they look great. Now the power bulge hood in my opinon seems to demand a little more respect, but I don't see why it would be any problem to add it to a standard firebird.

I have the vented hood on my TA, but the previous owner put some junk bulge thing on it and ruined it. The hood is bent and won't shut properly, so I'm going to have to replace it anyway. I wouldn't mind having another vent hood, but my aim is the power bulge. Finding one locally is proving to be a pain in the butt though.

Jebus! What is that thing? Does it do anything, or is it like those stick on "scoops" that neons and cavaliers like to run?

And it's bolted on, so I can't just yank it off. The hood's not in good enough shape to merit the trouble of filling in the bolt holes.

Interestingly enough, nobody around here ever noticed, that that I would have wanted them to, either. The factory hoods are subtle enough that no one thinks its more than a V6 most of the time.
