Your not suppose to paint the rotor and the pads!!! Just the caliper

I painted my calipers and brake drums red also...im pretty sure you do NOT paint the rotor

Have you tried driving on them yet?

lol, yea... it somewhat is..

dont feel dumb though... there are alot of stupid people out there... for all you knew i was/am one of them...

normally i dont post stuff like this since its a tech board, but i thought this was a great example of what NOT to do.

on a side note, i do actually paint my rotors... i mask off the friction surface carefully and paint the hub part.... just because the rust that forms there bothers me.

If you want the best performance from your brakes I would refrain from painting the cooling vanes inside the rotors...most if not all paints exibit insulating characteristics to some degree, and will reduce the heat capacity of your rotor.

Then again, if your not trying to stop from 100mph quickely or don't work your brakes hard, it won't matter.

OK,Ok, I know it was a joke, and NO I wouldn't do this, but hear me out. Would it actually be that bad? The paint on the rotor would wear off instantly right? Leaving the rest all red, correct?

Take this with a grain of salt folks!

my guess would be... youd probly glaze the pads a bit.... and depending how you did it, you could have ALOT of smoke pouring out....
