Well they're new for me but they used to be on my step-dad's 97 Trans Am WS6 LT4(yes stock). They had some surface rust but the ole trick with the aluminum foil and diet coke and you cant even tell anymore. As Chrome as ever. I think they look good. The left pipe seems to hang lower thent he right. When my step-dad put it on they were perfect, but when the fuel pump went out they had to drop everything and they messed it up big time. I still need to fix that.
So what do you think about them????

So what do you think about them????

and yeah the car is wet becuase it was raining when i put them on and when i took the pics.

The angle looks like crap. Tips aren't gaudy at least...
well i just gto back from evening out the height of the pipes. I used the biggest socket on the side that i couldn't raise, and then made the other fit that socket. Funny though sure your gonna laugh, the rubber thing that holds the stuff up seemed to be, ummm too long so i had to use 2 Zip Ties to help hold it at that height. I think it will hold. I mean zip ties are pretty strong. Only thing i'm worried about with them is the heat but i think they can handle those heats.

I don't like the fact that are pointing toward the ground.
they do anyway. I just covered up the old pipe that was there.

you should sawzall the end of the tips on you cat back off so they'll go straight then put those chrome tips back on. reminds me of a v6 mustang with those crimped little tail pipes.

That was one condition of him giving me the tips. That i couldn't cut the Pipes to allow them to fit porperly. I persoanlly love them. I think the way they bend is original. You cant even tlel if you are looking at it any other way then at the level of the exhaust. It looks like normal tips. Originally posted by pardonme2711

My step-dad gave me the car the day i gto my learners, some time before that he installed a nice Edelbrok Cat Back system for me. I love the cat back, i just wish the pipes wern't so big. Then i could agle the tip. But i barely could get it over those pipes. They're really big.
I need to get more pics of the tips from different angles, but as of now the light is limiting my selection of angles. We'll see.

Sorry, gotta call
on the 97 LT4 T/A (stock). Show me the Vin, RPO sheet or the Build sheet.
The only 97 Birds' that got LT4's were the 27 1997 Firehawks built that year.
Some of the anniversary Camaro SS's also had LT4's.

call BS all you want. He special ordered a 97 TA WS6 with a corvette LT4. We traded it in 4 years back for our Dodge Ram 2500 V-10. the cool thing was, since that might have been the only one ever made, the dealership gave us $25k for that trans am in trade.. It was gone like a day later. That thing sold fast. IT was in perfect condition, only 19k miles on it when we traded it. It was an awesome car.
I really wish we had some pics of it, i might is some old photobooks somehwere but back then nobody had digital cameras, except a small few, so there was no use to take pics of a car you had. But yeah it was stock, it had the LT4. Dunno what else to say.

i dont post her much because i own a 4thgen now, but i am looking for a third gen again so i browse alot. and everytime i see this kids posts i question if he even has a car or even old enough to drive. i'm sorry either your dad lied to you or your lying about the lt4 trans am, unless he had a firehawk.
your car could look killer i mean absolutely killer, it has sweet color paint looks to be in nice shape. but then you go and put fur in it, purple looking at that. and then you go out and get chrome tips but you put them on half assed.
you car is a set of rims away from looking classic, but if you keep doing stuff ghetto and half *** its gonna look just like that. i understand money and stuff but common man cutting your tips is free and just cover you headliner in normal material, and take that purple 2x4 outta your trunk and your ride will look sweet.

You know, ya'll ain't gotta hate the guy for adding something
"different" to a 3rd gen's apperance. IMO they look decent, as stated before they look alot better than what originally was setup
I want to know how they sound. Any difference in tone?
Maybe a sound clip would be helpful. DUECE

look like those tips they sell in advance to me. GM would never just bolt some tip on, cause as all bolts do, they will get loose over time, and clank clank.
i know, they were after market tips. He had installed an after market exhaust on it. I dunno which one, i remmeber him mentioning borla but they come with their own tips so...
ok my recording device dont wanna work right now. Plus its raining outside, so this cant wait until tomorow i guess.

theyre from autozone it looks like because i used to have the same ones on my z when i first got it, then realized it looks like crap pointed at the ground like that. take them off if you cant cut your pipes straight because not being able to see your old tips looks much better than those. but its just an opinion.

Nobody in their right mind would install those tiny cheap tips on a WS6. ESPECIALLY not a Firehawk.
Now, all flaming aside, your car really could look awesome as others have mentioned. It's just that it seems you are hellbent on just "modding" the car and not really looking for quality. That's all fine and good, but this is why a lot of people don't like what you do to your car. Some of us poke fun, others really can't stand you, and a few like what you do. I'm not trying to say go get your exhaust done right and get rid of the fur, I'm just saying I don't like it. Just don't get upset about it.
Deep down we're all here to help out. And a lot of us really want to help you start thinking quality over quantity.

well, the thing is i do what i like on my limited budget.
My step-dad wont allow me to cut the exhaust to make them strait, which is cool, cause when your standing be th not looking level at it it looks awesome.
The fur is coming down pretty soon, i just gotta figure out what material. I want to be special, but to where nobody will laugh at me for it. Its all cuase of you guys. I bet eventualy you'll make me hate my exhaust.

Another question... are these tips simply bolted over the old tips that you had? Cause those old tips looked to be pretty restrictive. I'd take off the tips and cut that old tip clean off so you get some more air flow. Not to mention the banging around your tip will do when you hit some bumps.
You'd be MUCH better off with something like this. You could probably polish it to look extra shiny, as well.

lemme go take a pic they are far from restrictive, maybe to big of an opening if anything.
heres the tip, very far from restrictive.

I don't like 'em at all. Here are the reasons: They're pointing downwards, they're bolted on, and they're too short.
TGO Supporter
They are anything but too short... the amount they stick out is about the only thing going for them.
I still say you should cut those tips off. The bottom might look like a big opening, but they taper downward at the top, and that makes the opening slightly smaller before it opens up like in your picture.

The dark blue ellipse illustrates the amount of space you have for exhaust to flow through before reaching the tips. The light blue ellipse shows where the restriction is.

LOL!!!!!
Ultra rare single production ws6 with an LT4.
Let me guess... In all the time you guys had it, you never once took a picture of the engine.

Too much cholorform again... told you not to mess with that stuff...

Here are a couple of shots of the tips I have. I bought the chrome tips, had the old pipe cut straight, and had them welded on for $53.24...Not very expensive at all.
i can pretty much guarentee you we never took pics of the engine, but we prolly had it in the corner of some other pics.It wasn't my car and he wasn't as interested into his car as i am mine.

He wasnt really in to it and he went to all that trouble and extra time waiting to special order the sole non-Firehawk TA prudiced with an LT4 in it? Oh wait, i bet he knew someone at a "special dealer" and they didnt even have to wait that long. Right?

well its actually a pretty cool story. Like 3 months before that we had treid really hard to get a truck for the boat we would sometime get. He went one ngiht and saw a red 97 ta just like his but it didn't have all the cool things he wanted, he wanted monsoon sound, and all the power accessories. So he started looking at the order sheet and put what he wanted. He got the car, it seemed like a month later buthe says it was really 2 weeks. They went out to dinner, or so they told us, in his black 94 formula, and came home ina brand new 97 Red Trans Am WS6. I loved the hood. But he was always saying he got a one of a kind engine, i dunno. later in the years as i got older and started understanding more i knew what an LT4 was.
Now that i think about it i never actually asked if it was a stock LT4, maybe he got the dealership to install the crate LT4 that was availible back then. That would make more sence wouldn't it? I dunno, he still always though it was slow and had all kinds of cool things added. The first thing i remember was a special air filter and air foil. Next was some underdrive pulleys, and then a new exhaust. Then he got a shift kit and some prom tuning. He loved that car, i swear if i touched the car on any part exceopt the handle i got a mouth full for about 30 minutes.
At one time the astro van we got wasn't enough for him to tow our 20ft boat. So he started looking around for a new dodge ram. Well he ended up one day find his 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 V-10 4x4 off road thing. And they would give him **** for my moms astro. So he was forced witha major decision, get rid of his trans am which they gave him 25k for(dunno how he got that), or not get the truck at all and slowly destroy the van. well one day he asked me to help him wash the car, he gave it a nice wax and eveything, back then all i got todo was clean the wheels. I guess he wanted to spend his last hour with it ina good way. Then him and my mom drove off and came back in a new huge truck that it seemed back the i could walk under it(exageration). He still wishes he kept that car.
