It's working just fine, that picture was taken on I-10 just outside of San Antonio, and if you are familiar with that area, let's just say it's wide open and just straight road all the way to New Mexico....

Another One, A Little Lower to show how the car sits.....

The wing is actually riding shotgun for the road trip....Miami, Florida to Pasadena, California.......So trying to get the best gas mileage that's possible........and unfortunatly, or fortunatly for some, that requires removing the wing.....

BTW: I don't see how people with 20" Wheels and a drop make it work....I took an industrial grinder to those wheel wells in the back and finished it off with a hammer to make those fit with no rubbing issues...

Hey FLYNLOW, if you're going to so cal, chances are you already passed through my hometown of Gallup, NM. I-40 runs right through it. Anyways, on your way back you should stop by cuz I've been a big fan of your car for a long time. Well, drive safe.

when i saw the first pic with the wing i didn't like the rims, but then when i saw it wingless i was now thats a sweet look. i dunno what the 2 have to do with each other. i dont think the wing is bad, but i dont understand why go through the trouble of shaving the molding, locks, and handles to make the car more sleek then put a giant wing on the back. the car looks amazing with no wing whatsoever. nice car either way though.

Uh...gas is very expensive HERE in Texas! I pay $1.87 a gallon
for the premium gas. That's all I put in my tank. For 10 bucks I only get 5 gallons. Now ain't that some

Hmm, ditto. I really like the third pic without the wing. You can't see the one piece headlights, and without the wing the car looks pretty sleek. Somehow the wheels look much better without the wing. I don't quite know how that is. Perhaps it works in with the sleek look.

lol 1.87 for premium... so if your prices are like mine are here then it's probably around 1.77 for low grade? i pay 1.87+ a gallon for the low grade crap... i cant justify spending almost 2 bucks a gallon for higher octane gas when its just a daily driver.

and yeah the car looks awesome... especially without the wing.

seems like every thread you've started ended with discussion about the wing
anyway, IMO wingless is bad high rise would be cool

Thats sucks, gas here is $1.82 for 87.

FlyinLow, dude, those wheels look so KILLER!!! Way to go on a sweet ride!!! In my opinion it looks better without the wing. gives a nice smooth line across the entire body of the car, easier for the eyes to follow.
What size tires are you running on the wheels? And what drop do you have? Did I mention those wheels are way hot!! How much did they set you back if you don't mind me asking.

Did you have you're car repainted? I forget. Have you thought of different colors? Or even heritage stripes?

Also, in all honesty I think you should get that thing into a magazine!! maybe an article CHP ????

Congrads on a nice car!!

finally i get to see it......does seem a bit lower in back but it looks great! beautiful choice in wheel design and while the 19's are large they aren't overpowering. the dish really helps that i think though. love the car with the wing off too, however i think the car could use some sort of spoiler back there and the look is sort of thrown off.

either way good job, it's looking great!

Looks great...and I prefer the wingless look. How is the LS1 gas mileage? I got close to 30 MPG at times during my cross country road trip in my 01SS. Gotta love sixth gear. Also, what's the reason for the road trip? Happy travels!

all of you can get bent. I'm in ontario and gas is .90 cents/litre. Since 1L=.26 gallons that means 1 gallon would cost about 3.5 dollars a gallon. and thats for 87 octane 91 is at 1.00/L

Gas prices are up to $2/gallon for 89...2.10 for 93 so some people need to quit whining

As for the car...normally 19's look retarded on thirdgens, WAY to big but you pulled it off in a very tasteful manner, good job.

Also, ditch the wing...if anything go with a hi-rise 91-92 wing. Yes I know everyone has em but it's a bit more conservative than that high thing you have on there now.

Good job on the rims though.

Well thanks for the kind words, It seems these are 20 times better then the old ones which i wasn't too fond of to begin with....

So I'm officially in Pasadena California. A mere 2,642 miles later from Miami the LS1/T56 pulled through with no problems on the road, not to mention got incredible gas mileage...There was a brief period where i was able to get OVER 30 mpg with the combo, I provided pictures showing the recipet and the mileage odometer. Throught the desert the cooling issue was great, never went above 160-170 degrees on the road and held together really good.

nolanr0413: Nice eye, The back is sitting lower, mainly because I'm not just driving accross the country alone, I had to load up the camaro with all my bags, clothes and stuff to last me the summer....

87rediroc: I'm moving to Pasadena for the summer, gonna be doing an internship out here and figured it would be cool to see the other coast.

Kandied91Z: Thanks for the nice words, I have included a picture of the wheel close up to show the lip, I don't have a ruler, but i guess it's about 1-1.5"

As for the wing, It's wingless for right now, mainly because of the gas mileage issue........But i will agree that the car does look sleek without the wing, but it looks good with the wing on there too.....

Here are a few pictures from the road.....:lala:

It looks so much better without that wing.

I'll admit I used to hate your car. But without the wing and without those other rims it looks badass. Not to mention its sporting a juiced ls1 and a t56. I bow to you....and your money lol.

I saw that first pic, and I'm like, that sure doesn't look like anywhere in Florida that I've seen, lol. Nice wheels. The wing? I like it without, but when you put it back on, you'll look like a SoCal native.

Driving across the country is always great, so I hope your trip was nice. SoCal's a nice place to be in summer, and Pasadena's one of the nicest places in SoCal--that's not on the beach, lol. Enjoy your summer here.
