New Paint!!!!
Well, I finally got it done. A friend of mine offered to help me paint my car and I took him up on the offer. We did it in a weekend with little sleep but we finally got it finished today. It has not yet been wet sanded, buffed or glazed. That will be done on thursday after the paint and clear has had a few days to cure. I will have pics on my website soon of the entire process but here is what it turned out to look like. There are a lot of pics.
Here is what it looked like before we started.

I am very happy with it. Since we did it in my parents barn, with cement floor and make shift paint booth, a little dust got on the rear deck a bit but the spoiler covers most of it and there is one run of the clear on the hood that my friend says is no big deal since we can sand and buff it out. Overall it looks 1000 time better than what it did.

I know it needs to be lowered a bit. That will be coming later. If anyone cares to look, I just updated my website with everything we did with the car to paint it.

We did get it done in a weekend but we started about 4 pm on friday and didnt quit until about 4:30 am on saturday. We got it primed and ready to wet sand in that time. On saturday we started about 9 am and worked until about 10 pm and had it all painted and clear coat put on. Sunday we started about 11am putting it all back together and were done by about 3:30. So it was kind of quick but one long *** weekend. And it still needs to be buffed and everything so it isn't quite finished yet. Over all with paint and supplies, I think it cost me around $500 to have it done and look awesome. I sill owe my buddy for painting my car. so the cost will go up a little more to pay him back.

I for one like the jacked up *** end look. I mean come on. Were driving firebirds. Not low riders. Muscle cars, not imports. Look at any drag car. They are almost all jacked up with air bags.

yea i agree, i love a nice high stance. just makes it look more muscle. i mean on some cars they look nice lowered but for the Kitt it should have that higher stance. btw i love how it looks. seen alot of Kitt cars but this one stands out more to me with that line of blue lights in the front bumber. very nice

KITT was sleek...he should be dropped =) So drag cars are tall?...but they don't have that much wheel gap....what air bags? What about Nascar or any other closed wheeled course racing car...they're all low to the ground. Thats about as much muscle as you can get. Its done for a reason it improves track performance. We drive f-bodies, not drag cars nor even really muscle cars, they're sports car, they're suppose to be well rounded and not just good at one thing. Drop it =)

i wouldnt touch the ride height of that car. Remember guys the car has no GFX so it looks a bit higher, the photoshop someone did where they dropped it the body is touching the ground
where exactly would you run your exhaust? I doubt you could lower that car without severe ground clearance issues.

The photoshop was extreme...but so what if it doesnt' have gfxs? It wouldn't be dropped any less than with a car that had them. He definitely needs to rid of some of that wheel gap...especially with those wheels.

Well if he wants to add GFX it might look a little lower. But did the original KITT have any GFX? Im unsure. But hell set it up how he wants. I for one love the ride height. How big are the wheels? you can always fill up the well with some bigger wheels.

KITT did not have any gfx...KITT was an 82 T/A they had little what I call air deflectors on the sides of the nose and in front of the rear wheels, but not really gfx. Either way he is already deviating from a traditional KITT and doing it his own way. Afterall KITT had a power bulge hood, 82 style tailights (obviously), and a standard spoiler and turbo cast wheels with the bowling ball hubcaps..as far as exterior goes anyways. Bigger wheels don't necessarily fill in the gap they just might make his car ride higher and maintain the gap...even a modest 1" in drop would do wonders for the stance not to mention added handling benefits. Those rims are 17" he doesn't really need bigger wheels. Regardless I think his car is coming along fine =) :lala:

I do thank everyone for the praise that I am getting for what my car looks like and all of the constuctive criticism that I am getting about what to do about the ride heighth of the car. I am planning on lowering the car just don't have the money right now. It was either lower the car or paint it and I chose to paint it. When I do lower the car it won't be that much. maybe inch or inch and a half. Something like that. Where I live I have some wicked speed bumps and I dont want the underside getting caught on the speed bumps at all. Maybe if TraviZ could do another photoshop, or someone else if they want as well, lower the car so the tops of the fender wells meet the wheels and not the wheels going up into the fender wells so I know what it looks like.

evidence to back up my opinion
best picture of kitt i could find looks real good with a bit of fender gap, kitt couldnt be lowered right to the ground he was too badass and did too much cool stuff to be that low. check it out

i think the fender gap is great. i really can't stand drops on the american muscle car styles. if you do drop it, don't do it because it "looks good". you sacrifice ride comfort and other various things. something i wouldn't want to lose for looks.

JK man. The car looks GREAT!!! Looks 20X better than I'd imagined. Mine'll be along a little different lines, but I hope it'll look as good as yours! I applaud the car. Fine job man!!

You need to fiddle with the adjustments of your headlights to get them aligned a little better. The look of the car? Much better than I would have expected, all things considered. Nose, hood, wheels, rr spoiler, black out look, it really kicks ***. The nose and lights really look aggressive.
I vote for no more than a 1.5 in lowering, or it will look like another "all show no go sticker mobile". I think you get the idea.
Excellent work. Be proud!

The spacing for the headlights is about right. It is just that the hood sits up a bit higher on the drivers side which makes it look like there is a big gap. I hope to have this problem solved tomorrow when I go to pick it up and have it wetsanded and buffed.

It looks good.
I like the 4th gen spoiler but the wheels look like they stick out alittle to far and it sits real high...lowering springs would help the looks out alot. I need some to my front end sits to high...probably because I've taken at least 200lbs off the front end.

Oh boy are you ready? There are several places...
Rob Louisell Sells one molded from an original actually...so his is the most accurate, plue its only $800 shipped. Which is cheap considering its a molded from original =) He makes excellent parts and is cool guy
There there is Mark's Custom Kits He sells one as well, but its his own renditino its a bit pointer and longer...frankly I don't like it nor do many people that make replicas.
Then we have Advance Designs He has his own rendtion too, but it looks very nice and his craftsmanship is excellent and the fit of his nose is very good
Knight Passions here is another place...but its in Europe...nevertheless its still relitively good priced compared to Advance Design's nose...and it is very authentic looking as well.
These are the only places I'd recommend that are reputable and make excellent parts. There might be others out there, but a lot have ripped people off and or their parts are sub par.
