gas filler door

Does anyone know if an aftermarket gas filler door exists for thirdgens such as the ones on the new Audi or those found on motorcycles or Fuel cells? Will any of these fit on a third gen in place of the stock?
Thanks in Advance

I have had the same question for a while now. I think a flat type of filler door(similar to the audi one) made of polished aluminun would look cool. If you think that looks rice, your nuts. Do you think it looks rice on a Viper, a Jag, a Ferrari, a Cobra or any of the other cars i could that has or has had one. Do you think the camaro is so ugly or such a piece of **** that it could'nt look good borrowing a toned version of this styling cue?

I think the difference being is that the Cobra, Viper, etc... were designed with this in mind and came with them. That's why a Indy car looks good with a huge wing and a Civic looks terrible with a huge wing. Where the gas filler door is located on a F-bod I don't think it would look good. But just my opinion. I also think the new Eclipse would look better if it didn't have that gas door.

That being said it's his car and if he likes it go for it.

Yes, they were designed with the fillers in mind; however, the third gen was not designed with fourth gen wheels or interior in mind, but plenty of people seem to be using them. Why? Somebody must think they look good, right?

IT'S BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!

I thought it would be fun to go back as far as I could and bring back an old post. Actually, I was thinking of doing this as well and found this post while searching. Has anyone done this on a 3rd Gen yet?

My friend has shaved the gas door on his Thunderbird and installed a Bullitt Mustang gas door in his trunk. It's pretty sweet- here's the links:
http://www.tccoa.com/rides/sirwilliam/gascap-closed.jpg
http://www.tccoa.com/rides/sirwilliam/gascap-open.jpg

I just want to flush mount the Bullitt gas door in the quarter panel. Anyone have any pics of thirdgens with this mod (be it Bullitt Mustang or motorcycle gas doors)?

Not ****, TACKY!@#$

EVERY time i see a viper, makes me think the first thing i would do, is paint the damn gas door the same color as the car

so yeah, i dont think it would look very good on a thirdgen...

Now that looks good IMO. But then again everyone has one so whats the point of getting all upset over what people may say. I think, if you want to do it, do it, who cares b/c its your car! I like when people ask, "What type of rims should i get" ,WTF, get the ones you like. I know for a fact that you can not please everyone on this planet so there is no sense in trying.

There's a real nice chevy truck around here with a black gas cap. I still haven't figured out whether he did it on purpose or if he just ran out of money and hasn't been able to paint it.

If I can't tell whether something is a mod or a mistake, it's not going on my car.

Does anyone know what type of door that is? Is it "M" racing or what? I can't tell what the logo is in the pic. I kinda like it and think it would go good with my color. If not i would just sell it, thats all. I like that it is locking too and not just for looks. Seems to fit well on that bird, almost like it was made for it! I don't know, is it like only on over seas type of thing? I can not contact that guy from the page given. Anyone ever see it before? Thanks

I was thinkin about doin the same thing, I was lookin through Jegs and found this, don't know the dimensions, but it's cheap and would work great if it's bolt right into place.

If you find a way to get a round cap to bolt directly into a square hole, let me know.

I think he means that the ring would go in the "lip" where the stock one sits aginst. Ya know what I mean? Kinda hard to explain over the internet.

Square hole?! On my 86 bird the filler door is round w/ the little protruding lip to stick your finger in and open it, are the camero's square? All that cap from Jeg's would be is just an astecic-replace the fuel door, you'd still have to uncrew the gas cap itself. Just one of those quick brain-storm things, maybe the opening would be too small to even reach your hand in there to uncrew the gas cap itself. I'm assuming it's a standard size like the fuel cells come with, if I was really serious about it, I'd go measure my buddies and get the true dimensions to see if it'd work-especially since my cars completely dismantled and just dropped it off to the guy who's doing all the bodywork last night before he gets too far into it to change anything. Probably just leave it factory, that way it'll blend in better, and it's one less thing to lose when I fill'er up.
