Opinions on Intro Wheels Rim
Hey everyone, unless I missed it while doing a search(its 330am here lol!), has anyone seen or tried these rims from Intro Wheels. It's in their Endless Series & is called Classic. Also, I'm a rim dummy, what do they mean when they say "step lip only" Any opinions on these rims would be great. Thanks!

the intro wheels are awesome, and that means money , when i was lookin at rims i looked at them and found ones i liked, but i didnt have the money to get them so i stopped looking. The step lip is the lip on the rim , it has a step in it, if it didnt it would just be flat. Look at kandieds rims and then those, His are not stepped and it gives it more lip when it isnt stepped. Its the look. Somepeople like it some dont. Its what you like .

Ok cool, thanks for the info on the step lip thing nolan. Also, if you check out the website for Intro, you would see that these rims are actually the more affordable ones
what size are you going? the fact you would be going with a step lip rim also makes the wheel cheaper.
intro makes some very nice wheels, i've heard of a few members that have had issues with them but last i heard all the issues were worked out. there are alot of people in the minitruck scene that run intro and i have a handful of people in my own area who are running them on their custom trucks with no problems.
i had considered them at one time but couldn't find a design that i liked enough, sometimes i wish i had though as they are fairly reasonably priced. only slightly higher then boyd and alot less then budnik or boze.
if you like the wheel and it's in your budget go with it, i doubt you'll be sorry.
now as far as the stepped and reverse mount (no step) it goes like this......
just as stated above basically it's either a standard mount or reverse. by going with a reverse mount you get a smooth barrel (lip) that runs straight to the wheel. this also makes the rim look larger then it is. an example being a 17 with a reverse mount smooth lip will look like an 18 where as a 17 with a stepped lip almost looks like a 16.
here is a close up of a reverse mount (deep dish or smooth lip) wheel.

here it is on an angle...look closely at the dish. you won't have that look with a stepped wheel or standard mount. see how its a straight shot to the face of the rim and gives it that deep/wide look.

Hey thanks for more in depth info on the whole lip thing on the rims kandied:hail: I just remembered reading a thread about you explaining this too lol! I also understand how the stepped lip makes it appear that the rim is smaller & vice versa for the reverse mount. I can really tell that you really did alot of research on this topic when you went shopping for your rims. I am in the same boat right now
And as far as the budget goes, I totally agree with you about how Intro makes some nice wheels for a pretty good price (a little bit more than Boyds but less than Budnik & Boze). I probably won't decide on a rim for a while but I just like to throw some ideas out to see. Thanks.:hail:

Well, I think I finally made my decision on rims based on a pretty good price range, 5 spoke traditional type look, & a look that is a little different than the normally picked rims. I decided to not go with Intro but take the plunge & get the Centerline Dagger 5's. I know there was another thread here about a few people that wanted to get them & I hope I turn out being the first!lol! Anyways, I'll probably go 17x8 & 245/45/17 up front. And 17x9.5 & 275/40/17 out back. Or should I stick with 40 series for front & back. Gotta save some money for everything & I'll let you guys know how everything turns out. By the way, anyone know where the best deals on Centerline are? Also, I'm gonna do a search for it, but what was everyone running for backspacing for these sizes. Any info would be great. Thanks.

i'm running a 10 out back so it would be different. look up posts from crazyhawiian as i believe he's running an 8/9.5 front/rear setup.
unless you've already checked centerline is pretty expensive as well and their cast wheels are rather heavy. i've only dealt with their 18+ sizes in 2 piece so i can't really suggest anything there for you.
good luck with it.

Thanks Kandied. I'll let you know how everything goes. Also, how much more heavy are cast wheels to billet. Is it a really significant amount of weight? Thanks.

Wow! that is a big difference. Also, I emailed Intro about any rims that they had that almost looked like an FM5. They just recommended the gtsport rim.(i think that's the one that black88cam has) That rim is awesome & they said I could get them without the rivet looking stuff but I'm looking for a fatter 5 spoke style rim. Maybe I should try & call them instead & see.

here is a pic of an Impala SS with Fikse FM-5's:
Here is a pic of a Intro wheel that comes closest (seems too shiny in comparison...I think the FM-5 is a matte finish). I think it's the Pentia:

there's a kid around town with pentias on his s-10 and they are a horrible rim in my opinion. it's all very hush hush about it and this is the last i'll say about it. you can get a wheel that looks just like the fm5 from intro.....tell them you saw it at a show a year or two back and leave it at that. if necessary email them a picture of the fm5 to show them exactly what your talking about. i use to have the picture back when i was looking but later deleted it.
as far as rivets, yes they are an option....you can take or leave them. you could always call up my buddy larry at bozeforged and get him to set you up with a nice set of wheels too.
