What's everyones take on this??

Ok here's the deal. I am painting/restoring my car pretty soon (hopin a month at the least). Im doing a pretty big overhaul, to get rid of any rust, and get a nice HOK paint job so it's going to cost me a pretty penny.

Well a few months earlier I had purchased a Ram Air 2 hood for my car as well, and I have yet to put it on, due to the fact that I havent painted it yet (was gonna wait for the enitre car). Unfortunatly Im getting sick of seeing it sit in my room and want to put it on....which brings me to my question

Would you guys put the hood on or leave it off. I know with it on it will really stand out (being my car is maroon and the hood is grey), but at the same time I want to be able to have the 700 dollar hood on my car. Any suggestions? ideas? what would you do? Like I said its gonna take some time yet to get my paintjob done and I want this hood on....but do you generally despise the mismatched color cars? Thanks in advance

..oh I also heard that having fiberglass parts weather in the sun/enviroment for a period of time before paint helps....is this true?

I don't really see any reason not to put it on. Does it have a gel coat on it? If it does I believe it will hold up as well as paint in weather. I know my fiberglass hood with the gel coat held up just fine for about eight months before I painted it. So my vote is go for it, it'll give you an idea of what the finished product will look like

dont put the hood on ,they are ugly and no one should buy them . .I ve heard that they need to have some time b4 they are painted bc they release gases and need to have time to sit with paint off, but the time that it was shipped and all the time is been sitting in your room , its probably more than enough time.

Glad to see you put it on man Who gives a sh*t what other people think of your car. Right now my car is 4 different colors. But thats because Im working on it, doing body work, getting it ready for my paintjob in the next couple of weeks. Its my daily driver. I could care less what other people think. I still rock my car with pride though Real enthusiasts will recognize that your are working on it and not think of it as junk

what front gfx do you have on your car? any more pics?

i do not like that hood, especially on a camaro.

:nono:

however i think you should put it on the car so that you can get use to how it sits, then when it comes time to paint you'll know what to do.

Hey bro, looks great on your car! Don't worry about the weather! I had my hood on for 6months before it even saw primer! It's a bad pic but this is the same day that the hood came in! Fit perfectly, just had to play w/ the hatch, and left to right movement to fit exact! The hood came 98% correct fitment! No problems at all, my friends were shocked! After it was all said and done I'm happy I went w/ this hood, it's different!

Good luck w/ everything, send me "PM" w/ pic's when it's all done!

I'd agree with mike83z-28. People who have at least a little bit of knowledge about sports cars will recognize what you are doing and will respect it even being different colors as it is now. As for everyone else, they don't matter.

thanks for everyones input, Ill be sure to post more pics as it gets done....I just dont understand why there are so many critics about this hood for camaros...granted it is for 4th gen firebirds, but I still think it offers something a little more 'lively' than a cowl....but to each his own....also I was noticing that I have that really ugly front bumper, and I'd love to put on a 91-92 bumber (so it doesnt have the 3 little slots in front)....anyone else agree?

oh and
mike83z-28 Im pretty sure they are whatever gfx that came out before the aero ones....they came with the car though so Im not sure.

for one the hood doesn't flow with the body lines, in fact it detracts from the whole car completely. while it's just my opinion that it's one of the few hoods that absolutely doesn't belong on a camaro it has no meaning that i don't respect the work and individuality. just as you say in the end....to each his own. someone must have liked it to make it, i just would drive without a hood before using it.
