Painting GTA wheels...
Has anybody here successfully painted their GTA wheels?
I purchased a set of GTA style diamond-spoked wheels from Classic Industries awhile ago. They're still brand new (never installed on the car) and I'd like to get them painted in the proper (51P) gold color. They only come painted in black from CI.
I'd really like to have a pro paint them, but if I can do them myself CORRECTLY and maybe save some $$$ in the process that's okay too.
How do I get the gold paint to stick into all the little nooks and crannies of the diamond spokes? It seems to me that the spoked areas near the hub will be almost impossible to cover with paint. They seem to be so small that very little paint would actually be able to get in there. Do you have to brush paint these difficult to reach areas or something?
Since the wheels are pre-painted in black, do I have to strip off all the black paint before I paint them gold? I'm kinda concerned with how the black paint underneath would show if the gold chips off for some reason or another.
These diamond-spoked wheels seem like they're going to be real hard to paint. Has anybody here painted there GTA wheels with good results?

FWIW - I had a body shop paint my GTA wheels a few years ago. From a distance they looked good but up close, you could tell there wasn't enough paint in the diamond shape openings.
I decided the following year to have them powder coated. They now look beautiful and practically clean up with a spray of water.
The powder coater even cated the complete back side of the wheel!
Well worth the money!

I had pretty good success its not gold but it is 100% covered. However its rattle can paint. But what I did was several fine coats from the back so I would get a lot of paint inbetween the spokes. Then several fine coats form the front. Then 1 good finish coat form the front. Now sanding and preping the wheels took a long time to do. But for 100 dollar set of wheels you cant complain. I bought them off a guy locally. They had no curb damage, and only a few rock dings on the wheels.
Look at the cardomain site in my sig for more pictures if you want.

An airbrush will help getting into the little ports close to the center. At least thats what i did with 2 of my gold to black GTAs.Stripping the gold off was the hardest part though.

to mask them off take some poster board and make a loop and put in the wheel it will fit between the "Lace" and the polished lip and give you a relatively good line.
