Jongbloed or 4" Harwood?
alright guys, i am trying to decide on a new hood. i am pretty much sold on the jongbloed hood that hawks is selling but i am a huge fan of the 4" that harwood puts out. what do you guys think is better? those who have the jongbloed hood, what do you think of it? what is the actual size of the cowl? i am very interested...here are a few pics of each
my dad's car with the 4" harwood:

here's one of the jongbloed hood:

anyone who has the hood, please post pics of the thing painted....

grngryoutmyway: car's coming along really well! i got the new tranny in it and so far it's been going good. i need to get some new interior pics of the car, i got three guages up on the apillar now: oil pressure, water temp, voltage. they look great there too. still haven't been able to get the thing to the track yet but i can feel a mid/high 13 in her. i also just installed a nonadjustable panhard rod from spohn. i went with the nonadjustable one because i don't plan on changing the ride height in the rear any. i like the way it is now.
i really like the jongbloed hood but i am scared about hood clearance. i am putting a 140 series supercharger on the car fall/winter of '05 and would like to keep the hood without worrying about hood clearance. i think that the hood gives it a little sleaker look but still give it the functional cowl. i like it alot.
please give me more input/opinions on this hood guys, i am having a hard time deciding.

to be honest with you, i would be very interested in what your gonan put under that 4" cowl. if you arent running somethin that you need the room for, get the joebloed. ive always liked that hood cuz it goes with the lines of the top of the fenders. more my style cuz not many people have it.
Jongbloed hood all the way.
That 4" harwood looks like crap in my opnion...if it was maybe 1.5" cowl, then it would look 10x better. That 4" cowl is too high..takes away from the car looks to umm...*******ish..hehe.

ss hood is not an option....i absolutely hate the way they look!
the thing about the jongbloed hood is that it give a little more hood clearance without upsetting the stock body lines too much. i love the harwood cowl induction hood, like i said, that black car i posted above is my father's car. everytime i look at the hood i wish i had it. but then i look at every other car and they have cowls too. the jongbloed is different. cowl but different from any other cowl on here.
also, the ss hood would not give as much clearance as the jongbloed hood will.

Are you really gonna use the whole 4" if so I say go for the 4" but 4" is a little big. If your set on buying the jongbloed or whatever then go for it just make sure that your supercharger or whatever you plan on adding to the car fits.
If I still had an f body Id prolly go with a nice 2-3".

personally...
and you will never hear me say this again...
out of those 2 choices of aftermarket hoods..
i say neither and stay with your stock one...
reasoning:
unless you have a serious motor that you need the additional clearance for having the 4 inch..then its a waste.. plus..it doesnt look good..
and the jongbloed...well..that is the most ugliest tackiest hood anyone can put on their car...i would say go with the turbo hood before putting that on a camaro..
but..its only my opinion...and you can take and do with it what you will..
its your ride...and what you think looks good is all that matters..
look at my iroc...10% of the population here like it/can tolerate it..
the other 90% hate it..but..i dont care..im winnin shows left and right with it..and...I LIKE IT...so..
anyways..
do what you think is best..

4inches on the right car looks good. Its a little big for a maro that has mostly stock paint, wheels, and one that is not lowered. Get some nice 17 or 18 inch polished rims and slam it with a unique paint job and 4inches will look so mean and aggressive. It will compliment the lowered stance, the rims and paint scheme. Just my opinion. But remember, gotta have some motor to back it up though.
Also consider glasstek (spelling?) cowl hoods. Something like 2.5 inch to 3inches. Looks much better than the swollen look of jongbloed hoods. Just my opinion.

i think i am actually gonna go with the harwood. i keep going back to it in my head, my dad has it on his car and i love it. unless someone gives me a hood or something, i think that is the one i am going with.
lowering the car, well, i will lower it only as much as the Eiback drag launch springs will lower it. the car is getting a set of fatties and skinnies too. i don't see a set of 17's or 18's in THIS car's future at all. it's definetly a drag car that sees regular street use. the motor is just a 305, but if you want the specs, check out my cardomain site. it runs 13's so, it's not exactly your average 305. also, the 350 block is sitting on the engine stand right now waiting on me to decide if i am going to get the stock crank turned or go all out and put a forged 3.75" stroke crank in it. already got other parts for it, just gotta finalize the rotating assembly. kinda on hold till i get another car though. parents keep taking my van from me (they let me use it when they are out of town, abou 75% of the year)

i am undecided again! lol, buying a hood is just such a huge deal! $400+ is alot to plop down on something that makes or breaks the look of the car.
GaryB88, that is one awesome car! i love that look. wonder what that hood/spoiler/wheel combo would look like with no gfx.

Jongbloed , I HATE IT, it makes the front look horbily FAT!!
sure it matchs the front lines, but its FAT!!!
4" Harwood , great if you have a big monster under the hood with a huge air cleaner... its a bit big... but better then the FAT Jongbloed...
i say go with a 3" harwood...
and thos of you with Jongbloed... its good to see diffrent hoods...
but i dont like them IMO....

ya its too bulgy and doesnt look like it belongs. Id rather just use the stock hood with the vents in it. My vote is for harwood.
id say to go with a lower cowl. maybe 2 or 3 inch. 4 is a bit much. Dont any of you guys have trouble seeing over these towering cowls?
