I bought my compunds from sears and they are basically solid bars. I was just at eastwood.com and theirs comes in tubes, I dont know what state they are in. Paste certainly would sound easier. Or what is the easiest way to apply the solid compund? Just rub the bar against the wheel?

 

What kind of polishing compound do you have? Ones for polishing tailights? The compound that I got at Eastwood was a blue stick. It is easy to apply. Just spin the wheel and press the bar against it till you have enough on the buff wheel.

 

When using a buffing wheel, I find it easiest to use the compound in stick form.

 

The wheel kit I got from east wood was solid,

 

what are you polishing?

plastic and alum, from eastwood is hard in a tube, place against buffing wheel to heat it and melt on to buff.

most car polishes/compounds are soft

Yeah....you don't rub the bar on to what you're polishing you run the polishing wheel on the bar and then polish whatever it is you're polishing.

 

I am polishing my wheels. I just saw that eastwood put their polish in tubes and though that it may have been a paste.

The types of compounds I have are: Emery, White Tripoli and Rouge. I was going to use all three after wet sanding with 400 as layed out by one of the links that is in the post stickied on this forum.

Yes I do know you apply it to the buffing wheel and the the object being polished. Thanks for making sure though.

Anyways those look awesome, any hints or tips on these wheels? Especially on the inner triangle part? I am sanding there and am getting a lot of pits. Also how did you sand? palm sander hand, mouse etc
