their are no paint codes for a candy color, you can get paint that is candy and add your own number of layers to change the color to your choice.

mine is a 5 stage candy with 6 level red clear and blue pearl.

here is a picture of what blue candy would look like..

you can look in the body board i shot a test panle today,

here is a quick look at candy cobalt blue over oriental blue base.
i did the panle with 2 diffrent bases to see the diffrence, on side my base other side was just the metralic primer. now this is a test panel not part of my car so don;t gripe about the eyes and orange peel.

here one with only a couple coats of the candy on it, it gets darker and more purple with each coat.

looks good, my vote is on the left. candy fades over time...go slightly darker and the color will last alot longer.

thanks, the left is actully what i am doing. i was told candy is hard to shoot over light colors so i wanted to try it and see how i could mess it up just a learning process thing. man they were right it is hard to shoot on lights. the left is oriental blue under the candy much easier to cover without lines or blotches.

what are you using for a base? using a blue base sounds odd with a blue candy...

try shooting the blue over a dark gold metallic if you want real depth. candies are typically either gold or silver base. if you are using a color while i suppose could be considered candy since you are layering it is really just another tristage metallic.

im using metalic strato blue base with the uk candy. the hok book shows all the variation of cobalt blue candy over diffrent bases to get diffrent colors. i prefered the darker base since it makes shooting the candy more forgiving for a novice. if i could really really paint i would of went with a silver or gold base but it is not for the novice. the fender i showed has silver metalic primer on the right side. and i could see spolitches and lines where i did not folllow that gun properly. but then again i was 1/2 kneeling in the drive with the fender against a rim.

where did i come up with oriental its strato i think oriental was my first choice then decided on darker

i agree with the novice thing, sounds like you've researched a bit which is great. just take your time and layer evenly. prep is really the most important part of the job but with a good prep and a steady hand i'm sure it will turn out beautiful....i look forward to seeing it.

I intent on going a bit less extreme then a candy coloured paint but I will be shooting my t/a with a three coat white perl ( GM #93) and I never did that before.. but the principle is the same as a candy colour... how do you go with the clear coats over the base? you shoot those layers the same way you would a normal clear or is there any hidden trick to it?

Pic's dont do the chips justice nor do pictures of cars with HOK candies.

The UK5 over BC02 I plan to do is the closest match to the Grand Sport Vette Dk. Cloission. (ademeral blue)

Keep up the good work and deff post more pic's

that is what i am doing except bc 04 base with the uk04 cobalt candy. the hard parts is since the candy is basicaly a tinted clear each stroke of the gun has to have a 75% overlap and you have to walk the entire car with each pass. you can not panel paint or go over it if you botch it. if there is a run or sag or heavy spot it will show in the final product. that is why i am using the darker base covers a little easier the tint of the candy will be a slower process as far as effect.

look at the kbc line of hok. i was told it is real close effect of doing 3 stage candy but much easier to shoot. I will let you all know how it comes out and if its as hard as they all say. i'll be using the kbc on my pickup to see what the diffrence is. or i will be using the kbc if i botch this job all up. i think it will be fine though.
