The only way to properly do it, would have to be welding a peice of metal to fill the hole. Any other way would be sorta half assed, if you ask me.

Well not all people know how to weld, have access to a welder, or want to dish out the $ for someone else to do the job
92rs I didnt have acess to a welder either and wanted to do the body work myself. What I did was use fiberglass filler and matting. I put the matting on the bottom of the hole and then just used filler. Welding would be the best way no doubt, but im working with what I got.

I dont think a shop would charge too much to just weld a plate there. It's what, the size of a half dollar at most? Try calling around. Whats the worst that could happen? You're not going to like the rates?

Could just pop a hole plug in it. It wouldn't be "shaved" but will be very un noticeable if you paint it to make the car. I had one onthe back of my car for 3 years before I realized it was hole plug. It just seamed part of the car but not till a few weeks ago I realized it would just pop out.
I was gonna switch mine around. Put the plug in the front and the antenna in the back.
I assume the hole in my left rear was for a CB that was removed. So I bet a CB shop will have an assortment of nice looking hole plugs.

Its kind of odd how long I had that sucker on my car and just never thought about it. It looked normal or part of the car.

apply 3 layers of fiberglass mat to the inside of the fender over the hole with plenty of resin, then bondo over the outside, keep sanding untill smooth, primer and paint.

3M makes a panel bonding adhesive that is damn good. They use this stuff in body shops to attach door skins, quarter panels and what not. If you don't want to weld this is the next best thing in my opion.

hey
I just shaved my antenna... i did it like i filled all the other holes for my highrise spoiler... The way i did it was cut a little square out of a peice of sheet metal that would go behind the hole.. then i just tack welded it in place all the way around.. primered it then filled it with evercoat.. held up great

The only true half-assed method would be to put masking tape over the hole than layer build primer over it untill you can sand the primer to blend (the underlying tape) with the panel.
Sounds funny I know but, it has been done and... I am not that creative to make something like that up (truth is stranger than fiction so is said).
Granted, this was not on a car but, it was a metal 'patch' none-the-less.

ok well i went ahead and shaved it, i jb welded a rectangular piece of sheet metal under the hole, the cut out a round piece the size of the hole and jb welded that in place and went over it with some 3m finishing putty and sanded it smooth. it turned out pretty good....thanks for the input guys
I don't care how you do it, but as long as that antenna isn't on your car, I couldn't care less how it was taken off........
For the love of ***, as long as the thing is gone, it's going to look better, even if use a Mcgyver type method to do it.......
