Well, not too long ago I disintigrated my B&M Holeshot converter and replaced it with a stocker for the time being.. Well, last night everything decided to let go all at once.. It's like, what came first? The chicken or the egg?
Anyhoo, I destroyed my rearend, twisted the driveshaft like a pretzel, broke the tranny around the bellhousing, and broke all the mounting blocks off the converter... We had a good laugh tho, and noone got hurt so it's acceptable..
Pics are on my server.. If the link doesn't work, my server is down, but will be back up..

Holy cow that sucks that it all happened at once. I saw your pics and noticed the side exit exhaust (which looks awesome btw) and then I read your sig. Must have been the car telling you that it's making too much power for those components, huh?
305q_ta86 - I kind of figured once I started to get the engine running good, that the drivetrain would take a dump, which it did... lol..
Steve383 - Well, for now, I think I'll throw a stock th350 with a shift kit in with some 3.23's.. This winter it'll get a th400 and something like an 8.5, 8.8 or a 12 bolt.. depends on what's available at the right price really.. Fabbing the brackets doesn't really bother me that much..
greezemonkey - Heh heh, that's what I said..

LOL... wow, good job. I'd guess that the rear went first, which snapped the driveshaft, then the shaft caught the ground and wrecked the trans. Just guessing.
This is probably in the wrong forum though.

Just got back with some parts.. Got another th350, new shiftkit in box, new driveshaft (too short, doh!) and 3.42's with carrier all for the low low price of 60 canuck bucks.. Not too shabby I guess..

You definitely got bragging rights now...
"My car has too much power, so I got no tread left"
"Oh yea? I cracked my tranny case, snapped the driveshaft, and grenaded my rear in one shot!"

I agree about the bragging rights thing but can I suggest something for the next rear, C clip eliminators. I go to the track a good bit so I see a good many axles being twisted off and it can get pretty scary when a wheel goes flying axle and all but if it were set up like a 9 bolt with no c clips it would be alot safer.
Got it all back together tonight, and the wheels spin in the air so I guess that's a bonus.. Will have it out for a test drive this week sometime I imagine.. Didn't want to go for a drive with my home-made driveshaft... he he he..
The DS I got was too short so I cut about 16" off what was left of the old DS and cut off ~13" off the new DS to give me the right length.. Should be good for moving it in and out of the garage at least..
Cheers,

CaysE - Hrm, didn't take any pics of that.. I just used two peices of angle iron and the vice to get the peices straight.. Then I aligned the U-joints and put a bead of weld around the shaft..
90firebird - Rear, DS, tranny, torque converter.
kretos - That's what I think as well..
On a side note, I picked up an 8.5" 10 bolt tonight out of an 80 Z28, along with a 3.08 posi.. The rear is about 61.25 inches and the stock 7.5 is around 61.75 inches.. (flange to flange) Soo, that brings the wheels in about 1/4 of an inch on each side.. I've got plenty of room as it sits now..
Hopefully I can tackle this within the next week or two.. I have a friends firebird that I need to build an exhaust like mine for first...

Wow...glad to see you have it back mobile again, Andrew. You seem to work pretty quick at it.
On a side note, are you or any of your friends planning to go to the show at the balloon fiesta in Sussex this weekend? It's Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm; registration is free. There were almost 500 vehicles there last year...
