Look at the hinge and the strut. I think the hood is just unbolted and sitting sideways.

well you would have to unbolt it on the other side meaning you'd need something to back it on the one side and an unbolted rusted hinge showing wouldn't be the best idea and a hassle for many reasons. you could be right...

Nah, he probably just pulled out the clips that hold the strut on the passenger side. Once you do that, the hinge will fold down flat and you can sit the hood on top of it.

if it's true it would have to be fiberglass and it would take so much time it wouldn't be worth it. judges would discount for it as well....although looking i doubt the owner cares.

i have not seen that one in person but i have seen one in person, they used hood pins just like the front but in the back with tilting hinges on one side....who knows how it's done but it would take some work to balance the hood that way and not have some idiot push it over...

if the nose spoiler was painted in the first pic, it would have looked much better.

I agree, and I would've have put so much detail into the flames. It makes the car look as if he just hit a friggin' huge bug rather than mean racer-style flamework. Less is definitely more when it comes to that particular aspect. It's still admirable work, I just think some of these showcars are a bit overdone. Or maybe that's what they're going for. Ah what do I know?

That first one is David Culpeppers car, he posts on here occasionally the site sais he got 3rd in the Camaro Mild class. I really wish I had atleast gone to the show, I dont think I could compete with that group tho. I was planning on going to the f body invasion in Kentucky and ended up having too much to do that weekend, and then totally forgot NOPI was that weekend as well looks like a killer show tho. Raif was there too, I think she took second.

Those pics are from 2003. In 03 when the pics were taken, neither of us placed.

Results from 2004 NOPI Nats.
Culpepper took 3rd in Camaro Mild.
I took 2nd in Firebird mild.

Man where did you guys get the pics...I looked al over that site for my car in the 03 pics...wonder if there are any from 04.

Apparently a company called CARS is starting to put out crate steel bodies of classic muscle cars. The '69 Camaro convertible is ready. The '69 Camaro hardtop and '67 Mustang Fastback are due out soon. The bodies will be available through retailers. Classic Industries is the first on the list. I believe the '69 convertible will run about $12k for just the body.

By the way, my criticism of the car wasn't meant to be disparaging - just my own bit of advice/opinion concerning the flames. It was more for myself than anything. I do that, sometimes.

Thinking about it...If I can get all the things done to the car I want...the major plan is to get the car ready for the serious competition I got a peak of at the TA nats. The car was crazy. He would so kick my butt if I did not step it up. Nopi would be a breeze after that!

I'm planning on posting some pics soon...figure I got all these pics I got to share them. I think I might dump them on Cardomain! Make a cars I have seen at xyz show page!

You guys think that would be a good idea. Better then posting a million and one pics here...esp with a 3 pic limit!

You will be down? Too cool!
Too bad...they started breaking it up. Well at least the Conservative and mild. The wild is all domestics...

Nopi at Bristol does not though...

They have conservative (stock)
Mild (modified)
Wild (totally custom)
At NOPI they are weird about what qualifies as a custom.

Basically the car would either have to be so chromed as to be undrivable, or
have a total body kit with crazy paint, or
total redesigned (custom dash type stuff) interior, or
Slammed to the ground, or
suicide doors or vertical opening doors, or
reverse open hood, or
nore radical engine swap, or
an insane sound system....
Stuff like that...

In other words thing a step beyond...I ahve really not done anythig too radical with my car. The shaving, headlights, and red and black interior is about it really.

In all honesty I have never really considered this car a custom anyway!

Well ****.. if Kandieds old car is gonna be there I guess I'll have to go to that instead of the Ky show. Shannon, how much was entry fee? if its cheap enough I might even show for fun.. I can't really compete with the big dogs tho .. I'm guessing its fairly expensive tho with the quality of the cars that are there

Ok lets try this for the 4th time. TGO would not let me reply the other day...

Showing:
$60 gets you registration & two 2 day passes...if you register early
$70 for late registration...same deal as above.

Spetators only:
$25 per day single pass
$40 for a single person weekend pass

Compare it:
So for you and a friend to spectate will cost you $80.

For you to show and a friend to go, $60/70...big difference. Now you know why the show is so large...

Wished I could have had my rims on in time, but they are not ready yet. Still have to come to vender from manufacturer.

In all honesty I have never really considered this car a custom anyway!

shannon,

i would be classed as wild because of all my conversions!!

Im not sure there is too many cars that would be in my class..

I just cant get the car there, it would be nice, but wont be happening...plus i think im selling it..

good luck to all who are going

Once you step into wild though you are against all domestics... not just f-bodys! Not enough f-bodys to warent a separate class in wild
