Probably one made from sugar. Sorry couldn't resist. Check out some of the site sponser up top to view what is availble. Your choice will be strickly a matter of opinion. Also, search for SS and cowl hood to see various cars with them.

I see another cowl/ss debate coming......
Here is what I think.
If you go cowl, make use of it, the way it is intended. IMO, anything above 2" is just too tall to look primo.
I would like ss better if it didn't widen as much as it does after the scoop.

2-3" cowl. I used to like the SS hood, but its waaaay overdone now... I think I might be the only Camaro owner here without it.

alright, just because no one else is gonna say it I will. Get a ram air 2....yes I can sense all the replies now about body lines and leave it to firebirds, but hey the hood looks great on some maros'

Ss hoods and big block hoods are way over done, if you really wanna get attention get a 4" cowl hood, hawks 5" spoiler out back and some open pipes.

people say that "Ss hoods and big block hoods are way over done"...on this site...while sitting at a computer...yes, there are alot of these types of hoods. But what about where you live? I mean....where I'm from...I'm the only person that is running an SS hood....and I'm acutally about the only person with a 1991 Z28. It's hard to even find any 3rd gens around here. To me, I think the cowl hoods are way over done...because I see them contantly here....on trucks, cars, even vans.

That RA2 hood is the most hideous thing I've ever seen. IMO of course!
I like a good old Iroc hood. ...or maybe a 2" cowl.
I agree that you can't go by what people on TGO have. That's a VERY small part of the actual thirdgen population. I've only seen 1 SS hood here, and only a few cowls.

Another thing to consider is what your paint scheme will be, I had a hard time deciding on a hood due to the stripes on my car but went 3" Cervini cowl. I am thankful I did not go with the Ram Air II hood, just from what I have seen in person, but that is JUST AN OPINION! Find two you REALLY like then decide!

there are a pretty good selection of hoods to chose from, just depends on what you like and what kinda style you want for your car. and remember after all is said by other people about what they like and think you should do, its your car and your money so do what you like with it.. thats my 2¢
i'm going with a Cervini's cowl hood on mine, love the way they look

I like my hood
My other favorites are the 3 inch Cervini cowl hood and I also like the 91-92 Z-28 hood. The Harwood 3 & 4 inch cowl hoods are nice too.

to tell u the truth.. i dont think the Ram Air hoods fit our cars at all, camaro or firebird. If it was shorter i would fit the firebirds, but i dont think it would fit the lines of the camaro at all.. It sweeps back in a triangle, but the camaros are too boxy for it.. the firebirds are triangular enough... remember....

my opinion on which hood, well personally i think it depends on the specific car its going on. Like for example some thirdgens i like the SS hood on and sum i dont, depends specificly on the car. I say find pics of all the hoods for thirdgens, and just look at them and see which one u like the most. just my cent

Just to add a little comparison
I just got this hood for my 92 z, haven't put it on yet. The construction seems to be superior to another brand I tried previously. More expensive than ASCD but less expensive than others mentioned here.
These are available from F-body and Hawk's.

ASCD SS hood is the best. I have only seen one car in person with the hood and it was my car. so i am a little biased in my choice.
many people on thirdgen have the hood but you never see it local.

me design will let the SS hood be functional, granted it wont completely seal the hood to the air box, but it will be close enough.
remenicent of the 96-97 SS airbox.
once i get the hood and my box working, i will post pics as well as a tech article on it. after the new year i should be done

I would definitaly go with the SS hood or the 91/92 Z28 hood. Especially if you want to add racing stripes on it...
I saw several cowl hoods in person, and for me, if your car has ground effect, it just don't match! They were designed for 1st & 2nd gen as well as for Dragster.
Make a wise decision!

well my vote of course goes to SS....under the stipulation that the car have 91-92 aero GFX. the scoops compliment each other and it really flows. on the other hand when you toss it on a car with 85-89 flat GFX it looks out of place and I much prefer the boxier type cowl hoods on those cars (though when they are taller than 2" or 3" they start to look rediculous to me). as far as most popular hood debate is concerned I would say the cowl is probably more over done than the SS. at Thirdgen fest I was the only car with an SS, but there were a dozen or so reverse cowls. so to end this I say go for SS (also cut it open and run an open element case man it pulls in cold air) if you want to set your car apart at the next car show, go for the cowl if you want to be a bit more subtle.

Yeah what ever you do dont go with a cowl hood and stripes it just doesnt look good, oh and it cant be made to look good in any way
I mean look at this peice of crap below after I built it I had to burn it to the ground.
You got to go with what you like not what we say, all of them can be made to look good or look like **** if you dont take the time to do it right.
