Paint Quote

Hi guys I'm needing a few" second opinions" on a paint quote for a 82 trans am that I'm doing a Knight rider kitt car on.Please take in effect the body man use to work on f-bodys when new for 20 years.

He quoted me $1000 for the following paint job.

PPG omni paint

1 coat black epoxy
3 coats black base coat
3 coats black urethane clear
and wet sanding and paint the door jambs.

So does that sound good just wanna get a fair price on paint thnx<Dave

Yup prep work included.I don't have to do anything, but get a driver side door and weather stripping.

i have some surface rust, dings & 2 big dents and he has to replace my driver side door and install weather stripping remove taillights, wing, mirror, door handles. He charging $500 extra for that all

total bill is $1500 + door $150 +ALL gm weatherstripping $300
total bill around $2000.

Ya he's been painting cars for 30 years 20 of them was working at a local f-body yard.I'm guessing since he had a 55 Chevy and Ferrari 308 in his shop,He should be able to do a good Job on my 82 t/a.

$500 for prep and to fix the body/rust work on it.Besides I'm a busy man.2 jobs and school,1 1/2 girlfriend's.Gotta find a way to pay for all this :lala:

my dealer cost on my paint is 1500 alone... if you like his work and trust him that's very reasonable.

He's having PPG Omni on it, not some higher end paint, its their lowest line of paint, regular price on the materials for the job is probably in the neighborhood of 500 or so

Not really much of a simple color thing, thats about the same for my admiral blue paint in Omni, its MOSTLY blue pearl, just the quality of the paint, heck to do a black paint job "right" in my book, the way my friends car will be done by me, is a little over 1k in materials alone from HOK.

markup on paint is rediculous...

black is a simple color... that is unless you tri-stage it or do something custom and then it isn't truly black.

I didnt mean to say that cost was high, it does include primer, sealer, and the paint will be 1.5 gals base and clear, not just a gallon....
