new paint job......info needed please everyone

Today I turned in my keys and car to the trust of a local paint shop. on the drivers side of the formula there is bodywork that needs to be done to the front q-panel,door,and rear q-panel. this is all being fixed and after this ,my car is going to be sanded to primer, then shot with accrilic anamel. all for the price of $900.00. when i brought it up there today they said they could probably shoot it with base/clearcoat but they have to see if they can get a good price on it...what do yall think? is this a good deal, what are yalls experience on accrilic anamel? this shop does good work, ive seen their pictures and acual finished products..im kinda of nervous..just hope it all comes out good.thanks in advance to the info...

Personally, i wouldnt get a 900 buck paint job on my third gen. Its way too special for that. They need to be careful how they apply the paint, and if its of good quality. But if its all you could afford, figure that its gonna be a job that will last you about 5 years before you really start seeing inperfections. But you said that they are doing body work too....I dont know, man. Body work is expensive, i will be concerned on the fare of the paint. Figure this, my car got nailed on the quarter panel, he painted the quarter panel, door, and fender to match the new paint. It cost the guys insurance $1,900!!

I would have to agree with FormulaGOD, it basically comes down to, again, you get what you pay for. A friend of mine had his 87 Iroc stripped to the metal and repainted along with some body work. I know that he has over 2500 in the job and I have got to say that it is one sweet looking paint job (although I dont care to much for the color) and will last another 13 years if not more.
As for myself, I have to Camaros, one is a 92 RS that needs some body work and the other is a 89 Iroc ragtop that needs some seroius work. As FormulaGod had said, and I agree, my Iroc is to precious for a Macco paint job or anything compared to it for the fact that I will be restoring this car to almost a show quality, not just a daily driver like my RS. I will not blink an eye dropping $3000 or more to have my Iroc repainted. Dropping a $1000 to have a car totaly repainted and some body work would make me very very nervous in handing those keys over.

Just my thoughts

thanx so far for the replies. i really agree with what yall say about getting what you pay for. i dunno...we shall see. this is all i could afford and if i could come up with more than....i would...damn budget. food on the table is alittle more important to me. I really got a good price for this after talking for awhile to him. i guess this is a example of some instant gratifacation and hell, if it lasts a good 5 years or so well..damn...i could really say i got my moneys worth..but yall all know that when its finished, the first place you will see it is at my formula page. i will let yall know when its ready. it should be ready on the 15th this month. But for my original question, instead of ragging on the price im paying, maybe care to expand on the question that I originally posted. once again, thanx in advance.

I don't know how to answer your question. You don't sound like you think you're getting a good deal. It sounds to me like you think $900 is too cheap for what's being done. I agree with that thought. To completely repaint a car and have a good shine and finish takes time. Time=$$$. With no bodywork involved, a good paint job will run upwards of $2500 for the whole car. A $900 paint job will include painting door handles, mouldings, trim, and probably part of the tires!!! If the shop does good work and you've seen their work and liked the work, then request the same quality that you've seen. You won't like what you are currently paying for!!!!
