Which hood flows better

which has better air flowing characteristics ram air 2 or ss hood. i am running a carb. also which is more aero dynamic. which has more hood clearance ie which one gives me more room for the air cleaner.

You know which 1 i pick

can't really help you with the clearance issues, but i can tell ya that my hood has really high clearance and im assuming would be perfect for a carb setup...

Or you could run a 4" cowl hood and fab up a air box to make it functional

I'd say raII hood just because the 'nostrils' are bigger and I have lots of clearance for the open-element Im running check out my cardomain page for pics (in sig)

By the nature of this, you are asking for two diffrent things. Flow from intake scoops, and areodynamics do not go together. The more areodynamic one, will likely be the one the doesn't get as much air flow thru the scoops.

Rex, do ASCD do any areo testing? I would love to see pressure maps of the hoods from full scale models.

I would agree with Rex, a cowl is probably going to be the best choice, with no foward facing scoop the CD is likely going to be less than either the RAII or SS hood.

Not to be rude... but I really don't think it's going to make much difference.

I figured as much, I thought maybe somewhere along the lines, someone might have done something with solidworks, and a CFD plug-in or something.

FyreLance -- It likely doesn't for 99.9% of the people...The poster asked the question, and it is a valid question.

hey rex i shot you over a couple of emails. havent gotten a response in a week or so. just wondering if you got them.

i have an aero scoop and i have realized that after 90 or so in the elco that i seem to run a little rich because of air turbulance or something but thats on the elco. it seems the air isnt straighting out or something or at least thats what the dyno guy said

The best hood for making more power and more room would be a cowl induction hood. The cowl will take in air "backwards" so it will be less turbulent once it gets to the carb. It also takes it from a high-pressure area, which is good.

Of the two you chose though, I'd say they are about evenly matched. Go with what looks better to you.

it seems that the ra2 is wider and longer than both the ss and the cowl hood.
