anything can be fixed. My advice, however, is that if the insurance gives you a sum of money greater than 3k to total the car (and let you keep it)...take their money, and part the car (or use the parts on a straight car). My GTA has been through so much repairing (I bent the frame), it will never quite be the same.

But then again, if you're looking to what good can come of a torn up car - my GTA's a good example too. I'm getting it back here in 3 weeks with a fresh coat of paint.

For info on my car - see the site in my sig.

thats the thing....i dont have collision so they will never see the car..Right now it has no insurance or plates so it sits..i occasionally rev her up for my own enjoyment. There is no frame damage so i think once i save up, she'll be good. Its just im 17 and 2 grand is difficult to come by.Any odd jobs in the ny, nj area? just kiddin but thnx for the kind words....

Thats the best way to look at it, try and find at least one thing postive about something and go for it.

Sorry about the car to.

Like the old movie "Christine" said, "You can't polish a turd." I disagree, all you need is some coal up there, squeeze, and look Diamonds.

Good luck to you.

2)new front bumper w/ no front plate
3)a nice fresh paintjob

sorry to hear that man, but tell you what..

my car was in a much worse wreck than that, i ended up having to replace 2 fenders, hood, bumper, all braces, radiator, tranny cooler... i almost gave up on it but with the help of my father (couldn't have done it without his patience) i got it done, then got motivated enough to do a few more things (stereo, interior stuff, etc) now, i got an 84 TA with a chevy 355 and TH350 with 17"s all around and waiting for paint, couldn't be happier...

so i guess what i'm trying to say is... you're right, some good might come out of it, just gotta make it happen man

all that is Very minor
only thing I would be worried about is if you caused damage to the rebar mount, or frame horn... usually they bend etc.. otherwise, piece of cake! ****ty deal either way, good luck!

Hey, im bringin this thread back instead of startin a new one.
Soon, the car is goin into the shop. I got a quote of 1850 plus whatever my RA2 hood is gonna cost. Does that sound like a fair estimate.this is from Pumas autobody, they have a great rep so im not worried.Hopefull ill have her back for summer cause i wont be happy this summer without her...

You could probalby cut a good amount of cost out of your estimates if you buy the front bumper and hood yourself. You could get a hood and front bumper cover for under $200 used and avoid the $500 a piece the shop is most likely quoting you. Even at that, 1800 is a good price. I see no reason why you coul dnot get your total cost down to 1400 or less. Look at their quote layout and see what you can buy used on your own.

I am currently going about the same process with my car. I am buying perfectly good used parts for under $30 where each quote I have received has listed them for $500 a piece. I am literally knocking $1500 off the estimates.

Be sure to look for people here on TGO who are parting out their cars. Cheack all f-body classfieds and look on ebay. Also, check out your local junk yards to see if they have anything that is worth your time. Used body parts are a dime a dozen on these cars.

similar happened to me.
i did the work myself and actually made money after the insurance paid me.
i would buy a new bumper cover though, it does look real nice without the front plate holes, etc. gmpartsdirect was like $250 or something. a few support pieces and lights from the junkyard, a powerbuldge hood from the junkyard, a paintjob, and it cost me less than a grand for sure.

Thats ok, just let it out. That's why I always say to my friends "take it to the track." These kids just don't learn...
