Its a nice ride as a whole.. what type of suggestions are you looking for? Visual? Performance?

Might want to consider a different grill (chevy grill or camaro grill), but its not because theirs anything wrong with your current, its just something different.

I'd say just touch up your ground effects a little bit and you're good to go. I really like the look of the chrome Iroc's.

Looks good.

What I would do:
1. paint the gfx the same color as the car
2. paint headlight "buckets" black
3. lower it 2"
4. add a cowl or SS hood

suggestion: take those GFX off that SC! it's a sportcoupe man! keep it a sportcoupe!

j/k. car looks good. i would keep it the same, just do some touch up paint for the gfx and call it a day. if you need the hood clearance of a cowl or ss style hood, than do that, but if you goal is to keep it somewhat stock performance wise, i would just keep the flat hood on her.

First of all, I like the GFX painted gold. It's unique, and I like gold!

As for being faster than a viper? Wow. That's quite a can of worms you've opened. Let's start with what you DON'T need to do, since the list is much shorter! You don't need new seats. You don't need a new steering wheel. Hmmmm....uh....that's pretty much it.

Seriously, are you talking horsepower? Is it gonna be a drag car? Is it gonna be a street car? What's your budget? The scope of this kind of project isn't answered in one thread, but rather a LOT of research and commitment. If you're serious, just read. Read what others are doing, and what power and what times they're runnng.

I'd start with a smaller goal. Do some research and set up a quarter mile time. Maybe try to break into the 13's first, or try to dyno at 300 rear wheel horsepower. That'll put you in striking distance of LS1 fourthgens. Not a bad goal IMHO. Once you've seen what it takes to get your car there, then you can plan for that Viper stomper.

Just my 2 cents.

...oh, and how about a glasstek 2" cowl hood?

Lower it a couple inches, paint the ground effects the same color as the car, and get a bowtie grill.

it's ok that your buddy's car is faster, I'd take yours any day of the week, and of course, twice on Sundays Nice car, man... the only thing I'd suggest is maybe a hood- nothing too drastic, and paint the GFX, the silver just isn't working for me.

If pops can afford a viper.. then I'd say he should help his son with an LS1, and some mods. That would be a good place to start.

The only thing I can see wrong is maybe lower it 1.5-2 inches. Other wise awsome ride.

yea, i say you quit being a baby and make your camaro beat mine before i get rid of it. and yeah everyone, his dad is really stingy with his money, wants to put a supercharger on the viper but wont buy us lunch??

anyways, josh i think you should start by making it handle first, do all the motor work, then worry about looks. looks good now, keep it that way unless you have to buy a new hood to clear something.

oh yeah, that jeep is a beast, will do just as much as one that is lifted 4" trust me, weve done it all in that thing.

well everyone, im takin off, and just so everyone knows, the camaro is for sale. im gonan buy something thats better on gas for now, then get a convertable when i move out. then josh's competition will be back

hmm... your car is pretty sharp as it stands now.

If it was mine, I'd paint the gfx all one color, gold is looking good as it stands now.

I'd keep it red/gold and add some iroc stripes around the bottom, the three stripe ones(w/o the iroc emblem of course, seeing its an sc)

You have the visuals down pat, just keep those chrome rocs rolling clean, and save up for the powertrain

Good luck killin' your dads viper.

I see you've got your 305 as an FI? story?

Brandon

EDIT: saw it was an 88 which means TBI, proceed!

Finally a son of a "wealthy" father on the internet who doesn't get what he wants out of vehicles!! lol Anyway, car looks pretty good as it sits. Just some touch-up of the front end and lower it like suggested. Then work on the power mods. New engine for sure. As far as that goes, set some goals and see what kind of options are in your range. good luck with it and do not wrap it around a tree.

Car: 88 Camaro <--hope to get a new one soon!
nobody seems to be awnsering his main question....how to make it faster!....if u want it to kill everone on the street....check out first turing it into a 383, get some nice heads, cam....aftermarket intake and plentium *holly stealth ram would work good* then put a turbo or two on it.....she'll rumble. Just when you are rebuilding ur engine make sure u keep it clean....don't want to ruin such a beautiful car if you look into the engine compartment and see a bunch of mods full of oil and dirt!.... just might cost a pretty penny though in the process. i wish i was able to do this

i guess the fading only on the front GFX peice, is due to it being made of Fiber glass?

actually, arent all the GFX peice fiber glass? or somthing like it?

No help from papa? Well, then, I say you have a long road ahead of you... Could you, by chance, happen to steal the viper? Maybe if u brought that engine to one of the engine guys here u could *tuck* that in there.. then im sure u will beat ur dad's car.... lol
It can, of course, be done... its just gonna be really expensive.. I would start with a street 427 smallblock with roughly 650hp.. hehe, well, thats my dream anyway

It depends on what you like about your car. My 87 was a stock 305 4 barrel when i first got it and i drove it that way for about 2 years. Loved the car! My favorite of all time.

Then i got the wild idea to trick it out to the max. New ground effects package, ram air hood, eibach springs, heavy duty suspension work, 350 tpi vette motor, headers, cat back system and new paint job.

Sounds great right. Well yes and no. I love the way the car looked before some idiot smashed into me. One year and a half of work down the drain. While the car was running good it was faster, handled better, and was lots of fun. The car unfortunantly lost something. It was more harsh of a ride, it was loud as hell with the headers, it became a cop magnet, and it just became a different car altogether.

My suggestion is to keep the car just the way it is and buy another project car and make that your speed demon. Maybe make it a sleeper with a sweet engine in it. Put all your money into the motor, tranny, driveline, and leave the paint and body work to rot.

Have your cruiser and your bruiser both!
