SS hood + stripes and clear markers- all inside...

Here are some quick pictures that I took today. I was parked in the shade but there's still a lot of sun...

The car runs way cooler since I went ahead and gave it a real cowl...

I've got a few more, but in most of them the car is blinded out by the sun. Hang on, I'll upload a couple to my cardomain site and then post them here...

Here's another one. It's got the sun effect pretty bad though. I'll try and get a few shaded pics tomorrow at different distances and angles if I have time.

Oh, my chrome/polished TT2 have been sent out finally. I hope to have them on by tuesday...

the stripes kinda ruin the lines of the hood IMO.....maybe if you had incorporated them like the 02 ss stripes so they went with the contours it would look better....nonetheless that is one sweet car

The stripes didn't turn out quite the way I had envisioned but they are very good looking in person nonetheless. I'll have to get some pics at a distance, it really does look much better than it appears in the first photo. The dead straight on perspective doesn't compliment the features of the stripes that well.

Sticker haters!!! Just kidding... I thought I'd never say it but I'm growing tired of it myself. Once I have the 5% tint put on I'll clean up the look of the car by removing it along with the big ol' Bowtie on the back window. When I do have it re-tinted I'll have the windshield strip extended down another inch to inch and a half as well.

Here's a pic from inside the car. The small crack on the dash appeared after I squeezed some 6 1/2" speakers underneath...

The TT2's and full exaust should all be on by the end of next week. I'll take a lot more photos as this progresses...

looks pretty good, what hood shock are you using? I am trying to find somone to give me a good price on painting my SS hood. I am going to use some weak shocks from my RS unless they seem to hard.

looks really good IMO, but I think you should have left the stripes off the roof, and extended them onto the nose

I'm using the stock hood shocks. They were beginning to fail on the Z28 hood but work excellent with the new SS. A weaker pair would probably work best. I look forward to seeing an SS hood on your ride.

I had it cut out. If the weather is not an issue or you live in a warm climate I definately recommend doing this. It looks good, cools the engine considerably, and if you were to ever switch to carb you would have a great source of airflow.

Thanks for the compliment. The reason I had them put on the roof is so it would flow right with the stripes that extend all the way down my back bumper.

The guage faces..... are those from ProCarParts.com and if so, have you had any problems with the face interfering with the guage needle "hub" and sticking? Mine worked for a few months, then my speedo started anging at 50 mph. I can see that gravity has shifted my needle a lil south, which just barely rubs on the guage face. ;(

They are white-faced glow gauge faces that I purchased off Ebay. I can't remember who it was from but I believe that the guy has an Ebay store. My needle always seems to stick at 145. All kidding aside, I installed them about a year ago with little trouble. I had to slightly bend a few of the needles back in order for them to slip on. Then a few well- placed pieces of double sided tape and presto. The only needle that sticks a bit is the temp one... - Josh

what all did you have to do to make your hood fit on there so good, and the fender lines look about perfect. did you have to trim the rolled edges and move fenders around at all?

I guess I was pretty fortunate considering all the horror stories out there that I've heard concerning aftermarket hoods. I bought the hood from ASCD. It fits the passenger side perfectly and lines up with the nose just as well. It does rise up a little on the drivers side, starting half-way up the hood going towards the windshield. This is partly due to the fact that I need a new hinge on that side. The current one is bent slightly. All said, after I replace the hinge and possibly weight the hood on that side it should appear nearly perfect.

Here's a picture that I had taken of that side...

On a side note, I just recieved the TT2's and new set of tires today. I can't wait to get them on. I'm shooting for Thursday. I'll post some new pics by the weekend hopefully. Wish me luck in trying to fit it all in my car and get it to the tire shop...

The father of a friend of mine co-runs a paint and body shop. He does awesome work, and specializes in flames and stripes as well. I'm not sure what he used to cut off the back of the hood but I'll try and find out... I would imagine though, that he just cut it close and then sanded it down the rest of the way.

awh man, you stole the stripes right off my car. lol.

Awesome!! Your only the third guy I've seen whose run painted stripes on the rear that look similar to mine. Great looking camaro by the way. When I was having it painted for the first time I was debating between blue with white stripes or black with white stripes. I guess if I had gone with blue our cars would be almost like twins.

Update: The TT2's are on. I'll try to post pics tomorrow...
