What color are the new 50th anniversary corvettes??

I am thinking about painting my car the 50th anniversary corvette color. You know that maroonish color, I just can't find out the color code or even what the color is called. Its maroon, but what kind of maroon anyone? Thanks

good luck, you need a vin code and someone who will let you use it. as soon as you do that vin becomes less valuable........

there are plenty of companies out there that make colors similar, a custom color wouldn't be that hard to come by. just base it off the similar more common version.

i tried the same thing a few years back with steve saleen's liz-stick red on the new 99' style saleen at the time. a beautiful candy red; by far the best i've ever seen. however, to get it on a saleen was a 7,000+ option and a 9,000+ option on the saleen explorer. they wouldn't release it no matter what i tried.

good luck as that would be a nice color.

before the 50th anniversary vette came out, the regular non-anniversary vettes had the same color (at least it looks the same), and it was called magnetic red.

they do look similar in pictures, however pictures never show a paints full potential.

i'm telling you to try as you may have good luck. however, it's available on a limited production model in which you have to show proof of accident records to the vin in order to get the paint numbers. this either requires some smooth moves from your body guy which is relatively impossible, personal reference from someone above, or a wrecked anniversary vette.

once it's reported that vette is now less valuable, i don't think your going to get someone jumping to willing do so.

good luck though as it's definatley a beautiful color.

Well it is possible to have someone to come up with a color just about exactly the same. You can't say its impossible because people can mix and match paints to any spec. So well I don't know ...

come on people....it isn't a stock color that was offered before and it isn't magnetic red.

First and foremost is, of course, RPO 1SC, the 50th Anniversary Special Edition package, which will be offered on both coupes and convertibles, but not on Z06s. The most prominent feature of the 50th Anniversary package is the special paint, an intense red that closely resembles an old-fashioned candy-apple red when applied over a heavily metallic-gold base. The color, aptly named Anniversary Red, really needs to be seen to be appreciated. Thankfully, it is definitely NOT a Cadillac Red as was rumored. The Anniversary Red, which will be offered only as part of the 50th Anniversary package and only in 2003, is complimented by the 50th-only, one-year-only Shale interior (and matching Shale top on Anniversary convertibles), and champagne painted (very similar in hue to the finish on the optional magnesium wheels) standard five-spoke wheels with 50th emblem center caps. All Anniversary

I took a tour of the vette factory when these where in production. They said it was basically the stock maroon color mixed a slight bit darker with a gold tinted clear coat on top of it

problem with that is a gold clear would make the car gold...

if that's true then my color is the same tint as factory as well so i guess my candy paint is in essence just a slight bit different then the stock dark metallic red that use to be on my car. even though it uses a gold base instead of silver and blue peal instead of brown tint.

Thats what they said on the factory tour... gold tinted clear... I'm assuming its clear with gold metal flake in it tho? ..you would know better than I, if you actually see one of the cars in person you can see alot of gold reflection at most angled views.... just tryin to pass on info that I thought would help

I dont know it this is too old to bring up but the paint according t GM is "Red Tint Coat Met 3ct" or WA379E/86 which is also know to most corvette guys as magnetic red. Im not positive but I know this is the maroonish color they used on most Corvettes. If you have trouble just find a PPG paint book, I have one called "Domestic Color Information" which gives the colors for all 2005 Chyslers, Fords, and General Motors.

Haha um yaaaaaa.... well I finally got the search to come through and thought I'd answer the question regardless of its age. Im almost positive its the right color, on the cover is a magnetic red corvette, under GM and Corvette it says "wa379e/86 red tint coat met 3ct" and it also gives the interior and any accent colors so it seems credible.

the anniversary color is not magnetic red and it isn't that easy to get but if your willing to pay for it you can finally purchase it.

Im confused, sorry about this. Is the 30th anniversary a totally off color from the others? This is just the normal maroonish color and must be totally dif from the 30th an but they look almost identical.

in a picture they may look identical if the light is not right...

in person they are two completely different colors as different as night and day. the factory metallic red is just a deep tri-stage basic red. the anniversary color is a candy of sorts with gold pearl thrown in.

Alright well what do you think of that factory metallic red? That is the magnetic red that people refer to, isnt it? How does it look on a Camaro, I saw a couple and one look bad and the other looked good.

it's alright, i like the factory dark metallic red that came on my 91 over it though. i originally was looking for a factory color when i decided to paint the 91 candy. couldn't find anything that looked nicer then the factory color i had on showroom floors.
