Painted 4th gen rear done..

Finally finished the my 4th gen rear. A lot of sanding and painting, but I think it turned out nice. Got new pads, rotors, hard lines, soft lines, emergency brake lines, and seals.

Calipers are painted with the brush on paint that's in all the parts stores now. Turned out nice, but the 2-3 coats turned into about 7 to get good coverage. I'm now that much closer to getting my new rims on, I've all ready got my 2" adapters for the front.

Now if I could just get the car back from the body shop..

Nice job man! I need to do the same to my Moser rear before I put it in. $2000+ for the fu**ing thing and it is rusted in less than a day after receiving it and keeping it in my garage! What did you use to paint it? I am thinking of using POR-15.

Nope, Rustoleum High-performance spray paint. First I completely took everything apart and then ran one of those thick rust remover wheels on a die grinder. Got most the rust off and then shot 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of the black.. Silver pieces are high-temp silver.

The new hard lines made a huge difference.. Only like $28 shipped for the stainless from In-line Tube. They don't list the 93+ axels, but the one's for the 92 disc rear worked fine. I have no idea where the extra 2"'s on each side come from, but they worked..

A aluminum cover would look nice on there.

Here's the one I did for Redraif: everything is painted with Spies-Hecker GM Brigth Red single stage, after plenty of filling and priming.

It looks really good! I wish I had the $$$ to upgrade my brakes. Here's my rear axle just after coating it with POR-15. I've since added some black paint to the bolts and installed in on the T/A

Yeah, the rear's got 160,000 miles on it, so I couldn't justify the cost since it will probably break soon enough. I just need to get it in there with the 3.23's.. 2.73's and a T56 just don't work too well..

About a week. 1-2 hours a night. Long enough to be done by the time all the parts got in. Prep work and cleaning took the shortest amount of time. It was mostly in the painting, but a lot of that was waiting for coats to dry. Longest part as a whole was the calipers. 2-3 coats for full coverage... yeah right.
