Watch my car be painted (many pics)
The Firebird has been at the painter's garage for almost 2 weeks. I stopped over yesterday to see how it was going. The body work is completely done, and the car is finally ready to paint. I'll post more pics as things progress..

Im so exicted for you! I remember when I first got my car painted. If I had to do it all over again (which I will in the next year or two), I would have gutted the interior to ensure no overspray and even paint distribution.
What color are you having it painted?
Awsome pics man. I love seeing the old birds get attention.

The color will be Chrysler Platinum, with a bit of a twist. You'll just have to wait and see- because I am not even exactly sure what it'll look like!

If you havent finished painting your car yet can I give you a tip. Paint the jambs on the doors and on the car where the hinges bolt. Then after that attach the doors and paint them with the rest of the car. This way you can still paint the door jambs by opening the doors...of course you need a paint booth big enough to do this... but what you will gain is a consistent color from the fender to the door to the rear body panels. Silver is a tough color to spray because of zebra striping. If you paint your doors off the car they might not match when you put them on the car. I found this a be a big help for mine.

another member of the Platinum 3rd gen T/A club checking in here.... I'm anxious to see how yours looks when it's done! I was the first to start painting an 82-84 T/A platinum... unfortunately the body won't be done for a while still. Just the engine compartment will be platinum until I do all the other stuff I want to do with the body and save up for a paint job.
Are you keeping the bumper inserts black or painting them platinum also? I'm undecided about how I'll do mine, but I'm leaning towards leaving them black.

We're in a dead heat AC. Mine's in primer too (except the engine compartment which is already painted). I'll still bet yours is totally painted first. Nice sig pic BTW.

I can't wait to see yours all done Kevin. That blue is going to look awesome.
Thanks, that's from Homecoming. And yes, I did take every one of those girls to the dance. There's a story behind it involving CNN and a hayride but I don't want things to get too off topic.
PM me if you want the whole story.

My IROC is geting ready for its second coat of primer after the body work is done in the nest couple days. Then after blocking the primer we will be spraying the color.
