Poll - Painting Headlight Pockets
Well I have the problem where I have black louvers, black grill, and black GFX and I cant decide whether or not to paint the headlight pockets and after doing a search, peoples opinions still dont give me any help. So I just decided to create a poll.

Well if a person has a few black accesories on their car such as me do you think they should do the pockets also? I'm just having trouble deciding because I dont really like the look but if the GFX, louvers, and grill are going to be black it seems kind of goody not to do the pockets.

I could see agreeing with you on that. It definatly needs to be done on cars where the color needs to be broken up (theres someone on here that just posted their car painted modena yellow) I think that needed to be broken up. Your car sounds like it would need it as well....mine I didnt want because with the grille inserts on the hood, the grille, etc etc, I think the black would be 'out of place'....then again its just my pref
I actually prefer the pockets painted black, but on some cars, mostly dark colored cars, I think body colored pockets look much better. For example, camaroguy, your car is awesome with the body colored pockets.

My car is white, and I think the whole black and body color scheme looks great. I've got black stripes, the black headlight pockets, Z28 grille, taillight blackouts... all of a sudden, it makes everything that's black stand out and look good. For the first time, even the door handles on our car look good.
Not so sure about the black gfx though, I'd have to see pics.

i just had my car painted a darker blue and the black headlight pockets really make the car stand out. i had the baby blue paint before and it just looked blah. i get a lot of praise for the car and everyone notices the pockets.

If you're going for a custom style paint, i'd definitely paint the headlight pockets "body color" or else the black would ruin the flow of things.
If you're going stock style, i'd paint them black.

I got the car back from paint today and I am happy I didnt paint the headlight pockets, it would have looked goofy if I had I think. Sorry I had to mess with the crappy photo to make it bright enough so its a little hazy. Theese pics dont do it justice, take my word for it.

good choice
i would have to say no with that body color, i think it would be way to much black with black gfx. leave em body colored. with a factory orig paint or repaint i would say go with the black but with the candy colors it is much more striking to leave em body colored.
nice paint can;t wait to see it all together.

All must paint the recesses or be banned.
They were on Z28's, IROC-Z's, some early SC's, 87-88 limited availability RS's, and the 25th Anniversary cars.
