Two Slammed 3rdgens

Finally got done with the suspension of my IROC-Z so I rolled it out next to my Z28 and snapped this picture. These are some pretty low 3rdgens! I still need to adjust the ride height on the IROC-Z, its too low to exit the driveway LOL. Since it'll never be this low again I decided to snap a pic. I had planned to adjust it on the rack at the alignment shop but the engine decided to break this morning (on the way to alignment) and now I get to troubleshoot a stalling issue.

What set-up do you have to raise the ride height? Coil overs? air bags?

Yeah, last time I knew he was using the ground control weight jack kit. I actually have a brand new front kit and rear springs (minus the perches) for sale for $270 plus shipping in the classifieds if any one is interested.

Believe it or not the Z28 is streetable. I've spent hours of testing different ride heights to get the car as low as possible without any rubbing or scraping, even at full lock. Chassis clearance is a different issue, and it will get worse once I get the T56 installed. Spohn crossmembers have horrible clearance issues with lowered cars (this is my problem with the IROC-Z).

Both cars are using Ground Control weight jacks and custom length springs. The Z28 is running a set of 2 inch drop spindles (this is what makes it streetable). If you guys want more info on the Weight Jacks, check out this thread:

Looks nice but they would never make it in my drive unless you could raise to stock height.

The IROC-Z has 17" ROH ZS's (17x8.5 front, 17x9.5 rear). The Z28 has 18" Boyd's (18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear). Thanks for the compliments everyone.

The cars look awesome. One in a "sleek and smooth killer" kind of way and the other in a "i'll beat the crap out of my car just to win" kind of way. Sweet.

Sheesh Shawn! How low can you go! Your Z sits just right in my opinion & your drift car looks awesome man! I'm not gonna make it to DS today though!

I also see that you're making good use of Tracys camera huh!

CH,
It looks like the boyds tuck quite a bit under your Z; in your opinion would they be able to be pushed a little farther out (maybe enough to line up with the fenders?) without rubbing a lot?

Yeah this Camera is sick! I couldnt believe I got stuck trying to leave the driveway, that Spohn crossmember sits so low compared to stock crossmember. I think the fronts could be pushed out a bit more. At this height I will need to pull the inner fenderwell and roll the front lips. I'm gonna try and put the rears on the front as an experiment, 18x9.5, 5.5" BS, and 275/35/18. I'll let you guys know what happens. Yeah just lemme know what specs you need and you can have em.

It's looks pretty nice actually.

Around where I live though, I would have lost my front GFX in 2 hours. Even at my stock RS height, it's pretty scratched and banged up, I could only imagine how that is.

It still looks really sweet though.

Thanks guys! I'm still fine tuning the ride height on the IROC, so it will probably be raised up about 1/4 or 1/2 inch in the front and then lowered 1/4 or 1/2 in the rear. But its still stalling out so I have not been able to test drive anything. Today I'm going to gut the rear of the car while waiting for a new distributor to come in. And as soon as this green car runs, the orange one will be going under the knife for a manual tranny swap, cant wait to get that one done!!

I really wish I had more covered parking but this is all I got to work with. It used to be a 2 car car-port but I had to enclose it because the Home Association punks kept complaining about me working on cars. Nowadays I have 1 stall to work with and the other stall is full of parts (extra body parts, hatch glasses and rearends, etc) and drift tires (over 30 tires at any given time). I should get a picture of all 4 3rdgens parked out in front of the house, it looks crazy hahaha.

Wow, the lowness looks great. Add the big front end to a low setup = awsome.

I really admire both thoes wheels, and im getting ready to buy some soon. What are thoes and what size? They really look good on your cars.

take care
