appearance vs hp
DaBandit,
I not sure I understand you, but no 94 T/A's cam with a RamAir option. The Ram Air option wasnt available until 96. The Firehawks were the only cars with the Ram Air in 95.
Sorry if anyone already cleared this up.

Personally, I think it is kinda hard to talk **** about a car that spanks you every time you race, no matter what it looks like
Although looks are important, if your car already looks decent ( i.e. not primered or multicutural) than go with performance, but if you have a car that is like 6 different colors than go with looks
------------------
90 IROC 5.7l (L98)
ram air, K&N's, air foil,Flows
LIKE A ROC

firebircl: I think it depends entirely on your personal preference and financial situation.
There are very few cars that I think are more beautifully styled than a 3rdgen Camaro (or Firebird
). It makes me sick to see ones that are ragged out. I'm concentrating on getting my '87 RS back to original condition, with no aftermarket appearance crappola. I've got a new GM 2.8 and 700R4 installed, so although it won't grind up the pavement, it goes where I want it to and I'm not worried about it leaving me stranded.
I may get my hands on an '87 IROC w/5.7 very soon, for only $500. It needs a lot of work but is solid and straight. I'll concentrate on the performance of that car first, THEN appearance.

if i was you i would go for hp and power cause you can always show someone up with your car even if it looks bad which i am sure yours does'nt
i would rebuild the engin if it is old and then get a supercharger

guys...,whats the matter with girls liking your car?? (responding to a few posts further up) your going out with a girl, your probably going to wear some nice clean clothes, brush your teeth.....and a nice "pimpn' car". ofcourse there are better cars for dates,like.......her car,so I save $$$ on gas!!
and maybee something with a real back seat so we could actually "get friendly",whether she likes the car or not.
as for my own opinions, when I was younger and crazier I was all about HP...but then I got real, what good is all that power if your brakes su ck?or you need better suspension and bracing?the things that make your car go are the rest of the driveline tranny(big money item) and d-shaft and rear end (also big money)so if you mod your engine you should mod your whole driveline just to avoid "failures due to added stress",why put money into whatever is in your car? wouldn't you rather start fresh with a 4-bolt main short block, balanced good to 8000rpms,450hp?and a real tranny that will actually put all that HP to the ground instead of lose it all in the TC somewhere.I think a good suspension mod is good for any f-body,building on a strong point to achieve the "ultimate handling machine" of course rims and tires are the final thread in a suspension mod, and those we all know are for looks as well as funtional (please get rims/tires that function, good looks will follow.).bigger rims allow for bigger brakes so why not experince superior stopping power, also good for retrieving "hard to reach" items from the back seat.don't spend $$$ on tinted windows if your passengers side door lock is broken and your missing a trim piece somwhere.first bring your car back to original specs, then decide what you really need before you go off the wall with some crazy apperance/HP mods.
as for me I just did an unplanned mod, more like a repair, a brand new(remanufactured) 305 HO longblock. original engine in my car 190HP @ 5200. I really planned on driving my 305 forever and putting in a wild 350 or 383 when I get my enlistment bonus, what really happened is my timing chain sh*t canned itself and the rest of the engine seemed to have went with it.faced with a choice of flying back to Norfolk,VA or spending $$$ on a junk 17yo 305 I decided to just keep it simple and replace what I already have (thankfully I have the money when I need it)it works out perfect because I have 5 years left in the Navy and the longblock has a 5 year warranty!! besides, how am I going to pay speeding fines with my E-2 govt. salary??one minor moving violation and I'd be wiped out,it's not like I'm still 17 making $10/hr!! I was going to use the money to mod the p iss out of my suspension, that will still happen soon (enlistment bonus
)along with my richmond 6-speed of course it will well deserve a nice paint job but not neccesarry.I would do different things that most other 3rd gen people would't do,like working AC and heated massage front seats(don't laugh,I've seen these installed in a fourthgens front seats) why not just make the car comfortable? I have modded my exaust headman smog shortys' HF cat,Borla cat back, expensive but I will never need new exaust,it sounds very nice too. basically I like to go to extreems and treat my car to the best,as I do it in stages and keep the car evenly groomed cosmetically and mechanically.keep in mind your 5 senses, sight, even if your paint looks like s
hit during the day(mine does) it looks ill under a sodium streetlight at night!thats good enogh for me!!
sound, nice stereo so you can bring your own home theater to the drive ins and the SS exaust to get a pleasant note from an always pleasant sounding V8,smell/taste the smell of a clean interior comes to mind,a little gas vapor from the carb,I don't know what your tasting in a car.....so maybee you shouldn't try and taste anything.touch/feel many things can fit in this catagory, like a leather interior, rumbles from the engine G-forces ect. that about sums it up stimulate all five senses appropriatly. the only thing my dad ever told me about cars and girls is that even if the chick your with, doesn't dig your car,she would be turned off by an excessively filthy car. it's so true!! girls don't give two sh its about whats under the hood,as long as the car looks sound it's cool. something to keep in mind if you just got your license and building up a "pimp-mobile" I prefer the non-golddigging chicks and being 20yo I'm just happy to have a decent rust free 3rd gen, runs good, handles and stops good and would look awsome with paint.I don't give a f#ck what people think when they see my car because it's phat and most importantly it's PAID FOR.

Bottom line, do what makes you happy.
Now, I love a good looking car, and I have one.
But, nothing is better feeling than having monster power at your command.
BOTH! That is what I say.......
If you have one and not the other, you have a car that is lacking and I only want the best, looks and power (sound also).
It just takes $$$$$$$$ so do what makes you happy first, then go from their.
